Quarry was a great fighter , but Bugner can win this.

No way. The two sparred when Quarry came over here and blasted Jack Bodell in the first round. Bodell had beaten Bugner for one, and two, Quarry didn't even bother wearing a headguard for the sparring, whereas Bugner did. Bugner was durable, safety first and didn't punch his weight. Quarry was durable, gung-ho and did punch his weight.

Wearing or not wearing a head guard has nothing to do with who would win a fight. Quarry probably had the advantage by not wearing one because he could see better. As long as one fighter wears a head guard it gives both fighters some protection from cuts.

True, but we all know that Quarry didn't wear a headguard against Bugner because he didn't need to.

Quarry easy on points. Bugner would be playing defense all night. Who the hell did Bugner ever beat who was near the level of Quarry?

A 37yr old Cooper was near the level of Quarry also a past his prime Ellis was not too far behind either.. Now if Joe had 10 fights wiv Quarry heed win 3. A prime Quarry is near a 1971 Henry Cooper and a WAY past it Ellis???

If Jerry had fought Cooper that year he would've demolished the old man, it would've been sad to watch. In their primes, Quarry only lost to top, world-class fighters. Cooper lost to Bygraves, Roger Rischer, and Amos Johnson (and when Cooper stepped up to world class with the exception of a dodgy decision vs Folley who later stopped him in two rounds, he failed miserably)

U seem to be missing the point here. Bugner could be very inconsistant.
They both had 2 fights wiv Ali, and they both fought Frazier... I don't need to tell u the difference in these fights. Also bear in mind wen Quarry fought Ali, Ali had been out the ring for 3 and half years! You could mention Shavers and Lyle. But as I sed before u have to judge Bugner vs Quarry on there best peformances here. If u sed Quarry edges a close points win, I'd say fair enuff. But u was being silly or over eager wen u sed Quarry wins easy.

Bugner gets way too much credit for LOSING to Frazier and going the distance with Ali twice. So what if Quarry didn't, at least he left it all in the ring vs Ali (and the first Ali fight was lost via a cut in the 3rd ,so to say that's come bad mark on Quarry is ridiculous) And Jerry beat far superior comp than Cooper or Bugner did: Lyle, Shavers, Patterson, Mathis, Foster, Middleton and Orbillo.

And Lyle and Middleton of that list beat Bugner up.

Yes he did beat better comp. I don't argue this. But this is a h2h, and I see it as close. I just don't see how u can say Quarry wins easy.
Also I think Bugners counter puching style would work well against Quarry. But as I sed before Joe is going to be at his best here to win....

Surprising to me that votes are currently 50-50.

Quarry wins this convincingly, imo.

Even Bugner would scoff at his diehard fans. He 'played' the game for money and hated boxing. Quarry, in contrast, loved and needed boxing.

Just because a fighter enjoys boxing mean doesn't necessarily he will beat an opponent that doesn't. Whether or not you think Frazier was better than Quarry at that point doesn't mean that Frazier, a come-forward pressure fighter, fought like Jerry Quarry, a counter-striking boxer-puncher.

Bugner was certainly inconsistent and had the talents, size and goods
to be a world beater, but for some reason he seemed to lose the big
ones and look less than stellar in some of the not so big ones...

Jerry Quarry was all of that which I said above but with a certain degree of pride...
That I think Bugner only found later on in his career after he had been
shunned and criticised by the media on each side of the Atlantic.

I think peak for peak its any ones fight. But I can see a Bugner getting a
win and I can also see QUarry stopping Joe.

I think Quarry and Joe had some similarities but Quarry is most certainly
under rated as a counter fighter. I think his countering skills would be
very crucial in a fight against Joe Bugner.

In the Frazier fight, from memory it was Bugner who was often playing
the counter game against the body bashing Frazier.

Re- The sparring anecdote, I never spar with head gear on but I know
plenty of others that do. It is usually worn to protect against cuts or
to guard any soft tissue damage that may already exist just as Galt
said above. Because Quarry was not wearing head gear against Bugner
when they did sparring does not mean you should read to much into
it all.
