against Swaby
Matt's fall from grace has been huge since the Rogan fight ...but is he still a decent euro level fighter.
i thought he would be the last one to suffer the rigours of sudden old age?

Hardly "sudden" when he's in his 40s.

Its a shame how he suddenly went into decline though. He put in a respectable performance against Chagaev, winning a round here and there. He then followed up with a career best win in stopping Vidoz. But after Rogan stopped him it all went to pieces. Prior to being stopped by Rogan, I don't think he had ever been knocked down. I could only recall him being hurt briefly against big Bob Mirovic and Danny Williams. I hope he can string some wins together at a lower level and get a few good paydays before he calls it quits. He's done remarkably well considering he had no amateur experience(I am aware of his K1 career).

Ol’ man Matt Skelton continues to wrestle with father time when he takes on Lee Swaby in a six-rounder tomorrow night at York Hall.
The 42-year-old Skelton (source: Hugman) once challenged for a world heavyweight title but it seems a long time ago now as the burly Bedford Bear was stopped in 11 gruelling rounds by Martin Rogan last year, a defeat which cost Skelton the European title he held (stripped) and paved the way for the worst spell of his career. He has now lost his last three, all by stoppage. You wonder how much is left in the well.
Swaby may not provide the answer. The 34-year-old Lincoln southpaw enjoyed his best days at cruiserweight, with a knockout of Enzo Maccarinelli the highlight, and has struggled to make an impact at heavyweight. Like Skelton, he is on a poor run.
Swaby is capable and occasionally dangerous but he seems to possess a sparring partner mentality these days. You have to fancy the big, aggressive Skelton to come through.

Buncey suggested this was to shed ring rust for a Prizefighter tournament....I'm suggesting, stand-by for Chisora v Sexton?

Skelton was a very fun fighter and has a string of very nice wins - Mike Holden, Julius Francis, Michael Sprott, Keith Long, John McDermott and Danny Williams, mostly by kayo, and he fought admirably v Ruslan Chagaev for a world title. Top form.
His sudden decline was sad and going out in 4 vs that novice last time was poor. He should hang em up and not get beaten up for the sake of a payday, because the guy he is now doesn't resember the swarming dangerous Skelton of 2002-2008.

Heavyweight prizefighter great don't watch if you don't like! They should get a few international fighters in it. A few of the prospects should go in it imo Get Rogan in it again!

Skelton looked ok against swarby, a rematch with Rogan would be interesting as both are coming back and their last fight was one of the best heavyweight fights ive seen for past few years...

You never know Skelton vs Harrison may still be able to happen then. Despite his 3 most recent defeats he is still a legitimate name here in the UK.

Skelton didn't try to hard against Swaby and looked keener to do some rounds.
He's better than Audley.
