Why has Hennessy Sports still not got a TV deal?!

After watching Lenny Daws retain his British title last night, I thought about all the other quality fighters Mick Hennessy has in his stable; Carl Froch, Darren Barker, John Murray, John O'Donnell etc, then prospects like Tyson Fury and Bradley Evans. Surely that would match Maloney Promotions, Hatton Promotions and Matchroom in terms of the quality of shows that would be broadcast on TV. With the exception of maybe allegedly, Hennessy seems to have the best crop of British fighters out there. Yet still no TV deal.

Showcasing his fighters through Matchroom sports. Got to be honest here I think its bloody criminal Meaty Mick hasnt got a deal - he and his promotional company put on some bloody good shows - Mick is a very hard negoitiator and perhaps therein lies the problem as it seems TV Executives like to get their own way.
Despite the many criticisms he gets on here in my view Meaty Mick and his lads know how to put on a good show - but I have lost count the amount of times I and others have stated it - Boxing unfortunately is not all about the fights in the ring - Boxing Politics and the back stabbing that goes on makes up a massive part of the sport.

In terms of who has a TV deal, I find Hatton Promotions struggle to keep hold of fighters for long (Matthew Macklin, Anthony Small, Ryan Rhodes etc) and seem to spend too much time showcasing brother Matthew Hatton's career. Maloney Promotions put on some good shows, but often at the much lighter weights that doesn't get the casual boxing fan excited. Matchroom haven't had a superstar name for years and I'll probably more known for doing the prizefighter series which has got a little bit stale now.
If all the fights hold up allegedly's Magnificent Seven show looks like it will be a great event, but apart from that there is not much else positive you can say about boxing on TV.
In short both Hennessy Sports and Hayemaker should have TV contracts.

All promoters should have TV contracts it goes without saying. But they must bring in enough revenue to pay the purses and organise the event. That's the problem i imagine.
Matchroom are strong in other sports on Sky, so will always have a bunch of TV dates for boxing laid on I imagine.
If i was struggling, i would put on a bumper bill with all my stable and stick on primetime or something.
And stick it on a top rate stream for a couple of quid. Any means to an end.

Probably because he kept putting on seriously lame events on ITV4 - it was a golden opportunity that he squandered.
For instance, when Witter had the loss to Bradley he had both Daws and Witter in televised ten rounders (Daws might have been 8 actually) - why not match them up?
He waited ages to make Murray vs Thaxton..... etc etc.
Promoters shouldn't have any TV deals - they should have to bid for TV dates by formal tender, like they do in America. Sky should play a role in reducing the number of pathetic mismatches and meaningless Commonwealth title fights that are shown as main event/chief support contests.

I thought the events were legitimate fights and best of all 'free'. Not against european bums that last barely a round for no title, or some fake belt. They were ranked BBBoC fights.
Elcock vs Macklin (British) Thaxton vs Melero, Mezzache (EBU) Thaxton vs Murray, Murray vs McCallister, Murray vs Meager, Murray vs Lawton, McIntosh vs Nathan Cleverly, O'Donnell vs Watson, Froch vs Rybacki, Froch vs Pascal, Froch vs Taylor (delay), Witter vs Timothy Bradley, Tyson Fury debut and about 7 of his fights (Belshaw, Peret etc).
Darren Barker vs McDermott drew 625,000 and for the most part they did 500 - 600k on ITV4 which is good going when it's up against X Factor, Strictly Come Dancing, I'm a Celebrity, Get me out of here and Casualty.
They are tough shows to compete against, with the Mrs sat on the sofa saying "you can get that ugly bugger off the TV" as she switches Tyson Fury off and put's on Simon Cowell.
For me, their presence is sorely missed on ITV, because fight fans are getting less and less fixes of the sport as the TV net closes in, until there is just SKY left.

I couldn't really care if HS gets a TV deal or not. Co promoting with Matchroom is working out well for fans, John Murray seems to be fighting more regularly (fighting in late september).

because Sky are the only broadcaster showing boxing and they're full to the rafters
