I've never seen a Fighter look so dispondent as Lockett after his last 'win', and that was 5 months ago.
Clearly on a mental and tactical downward slope after the 1st Tsarenko fight.
Anybody know what he is up to at the moment?
Anybody have any high hopes for him?
Where is Gary Lockett?
Re: Where is Gary Lockett?
Good question. After his last fight he had a look (in his interviews) like his heart wasn't in it. Perhaps he seriously weighing up his options (including retirement).Priff wrote:I've never seen a Fighter look so dispondent as Lockett after his last 'win', and that was 5 months ago.

He seems like a bright lad and a good talker, perhaps he's had other offers.
High hopes?? I'm afraid not, I think that eye will swell up everytime he's in a tough fight, his aura has gone and has been well and truly exposed.
You can never say never in this game, look at Jamie Moore - but I do find it unlikely that he could win the British title. I think he'll need a proffesional camp (revamp it) and he'll have to be fighting at Light Middle.
Yeah, I started a thread on Gary a month or two ago asking pretty much the same question. I only hope he's spending so long because he's really gone back to the drawing board big time. His last performance was abysmal.
As I've said before with his punching power I would like to see him focus on refining the banging/slugger style instead of trying to develop these classy boxing skills that he clearly doesn't have the ability for.
Watch Tyson, watch Benn, that kind of style. If nothing else you'll put bums on seats.

I doubt he will get back to Light Middle as he is now at Middleweight oficially but fighting as high Super Middleweight bodywise. He lost to Michael monaghan but took a hometown decision, he looked unimpressive againt Tsarenko both times but grinded out a revenge win in the second encounter. He's a far cry from the guy who beat Kevin Kelly, he's finished as far as anything above British level is concerned unless he wins a paper world title.
