well nowts been signed yet but its going a good possibility.

It wouldnt be the first time its been outside of the 32 - its been fought for in GB and the US plenty of times before.

They did, that was probably the biggest Irish title fight outside of Ireland.

Also in Brum, Darren Sweeney one the same (SMW) title in 1997.

Hmm after the international masters title falls thru they fall back on the Irish eh :TU:

I think its a great title its defo worth more than the fall back plan for the international masters lol

It will be good to see Frankie boxing for this title if it comes off - he can follow in the footsteps of Macklin and Moore as a multi belt champ incorporating the Irish title.

It's a shame Rob McCraken and the like never picked up the Irish title on their way through the pro ranks...

good read,how does this work ,if the sanctioning body is in another country
its not an issue, they simply sanction the fight but will probably have to have BUI sanction ref who is also the sole judge.

same happened with Brian Magee fought for the British title in Dublin - BBBoC sent across a team

The title is meaningless - Frankie Gavin however is going to be one of the best fighters to come out of this country.

Stated it before and will state it again - I hope he stays with Arnie Farnell - seriously under-rated trainer in my view - ugly **** but dam good at what he does.

Darren Sweeney won the SMW in Brum in 1997 and Terry Magee (brother of Eamonn) won the LMW also 1997.

Collins beat Storey in Boston in '88 for the middleweight title.

Tony Sinnott in Liverpool in 81 at welter, Malcolm Melvin LWW 93 in Brum, Jon Jo Irwin SFW in London in 93.
