Would you give him a go if you were a promoter? Interesting one.

I doubt very much he is a ticket seller - he isn't charismatic enough - so there is little reason for 90 percent of promoters to take a chance on him...

Everyone is entitled to their views but there is little doubt that he has marginalized himself somewhat with his highly publicised protesting

He needs to drop the god stuff, seriously.

Or move out to Afghanistan if he's that bothered.

I can see him now, sitting in a dusty cave with a Muhammed Ali poster on the wall.

His last 2 performances are really the "decider."

Shame, in a way, as he looked good against Matthew Hall.

He wasnt a ticket seller when he was looking good and before all this sh!t started.I have never seen any Small fans at the shows ive seen him on.Nobody will work with him.Imagine putting him on a big show in England now, possibly at the M.E.N at 2am?There would be a fvcking riot!

i personally feel that it was pointless sending british troops to afganistan, we were never attacked it was only after we sent troops to iraq and afganistan that we came under threat of extremist muslims, we went into a country without researching the geography or the culture of the ppl we were attacking and it never really occurred to any1 we'd be dragged into a costly war

Its very clear that small isn't the sharpest knife in the draw...

He no doubt prays that people compare his disgusting actions towards our returning troops to those of Ali's stance against his draft.

The thing is - the two just don't compare.
Lets hope this is the last to hear of anthony small.

Thats true, i think it could be pretty dangerous for him to fight in a british ring now.

You might not to be wrong on that one.

I remember when Becks got sent off in the world cup, there were effigy's hanging from pub signs across the country. Fast forward a couple of years and the world was eating out of his hand.

Difference is people soften over time when someone does something silly. But standing on a side street, waving a sign that said 'murderer' as British troops' families who have been left bereaved look on, is not something people will soften on.

He effectively delivered a message that implied their son's were 'dead murderers'.

It's got nothing to do with his views, it's the manner in which they were delivered.

An anti-monarchist wouldn't wave a banner that said screw the Monarchy at Di's funeral would they. There is a time and a place and that stank what he did.

he should be banned from boxing as when you turn pro you get told that you have to conduct yourself in a professional manor at all times and small has not ???
also religion should not be in sport at all

Imagine the scene if he starts spouting his nonsense ringside ... it wouldn`t take much to get him playing up to the cameras .. and imagine theres a group of pissed-up squaddies listening to him.... :-?

He threw the dice of luck in the hope of getting publicity and some sort of `Ali like recognition` .... sadly for him he is a cretin, and did not have the capacity to think through the implications of his idiotic actions.

What was he doing that was "unprofessional" - most people would have thought that it was a stupid act but I dont see what was unprofessional about it.

"also religion should not be in sport at all" how is that relevat - was he fighting at the same time? Do you want to stop fighters blessing themselves in the ring, saying a prayer in the corner before a fight and thanks God for their performance?

Good to see such rational opinions on here.

So long Antony..

Your not controversial, just disliked- firstly for been disrespectful to your countryman, secondly for been terrible to watch, thirdly for been nowhere near as good as you think you are.

Your ring entrances are good though, well done. The only fight he had that was entertaining was the Hall one, and poor Mathew only got beat because he lost his way- he was well on his way to a victory.

The only fight i'd be interested in seeing is Yassine El Maachi turning him over just like he did in sparring. That said I agree with the other posters who said he is a liability. I'd not have him box on one of my shows if I were a promoter- presumably Spencer Fearon shows will be the only route back.

You are right Jeff, I cant imagine that many promoters will want to shell out the extra expense to ensure that those unable to vent their dispressure at Small in a verbal manner are contained.

Small hall promoters wont put a guys from rival towns on because of the additional expense so then what is the chance of shelling out for Small.

The thing is most of the people that Small may have attracted by his actions consider boxing "haram" (sp?) and wont watch it - or so I have been lead to believe.

Well, one parallell with Ali is that ali was widely hated and condemed for his actions AT THE TIME.

He is now looked back on as a great hero, a man of strong moral values etc, but at the time many people did not feel that way.

The sad thing is Small will love yet another thread being written about him and another controversial article hitting the headlines.

One major difference is that Ali's stance was against the US government not the US armed forces. :geek2:

Quite right. If he was camped on Parliament Square or outside Downing Street with a protest against the war, people would show him a bit of respect.
Trying to compare himself to Ali shows that he is just a bit stupid.
