PJ Maxwell, the Sheffield middleweight banger, stopped Conroy McIntosh on the Woods-Johnson bill last night. It was the first time McIntosh had been stopped as a pro, so a good performance from Maxwell.

Maxwell put on a great fight against McIntosh, who took an unhealthy amount of punishment to head and body but amazingly managed to stay upright. He was stopped on his feet under a furious, two fisted Maxwell assault.

Maxwell came out like a greyhound, and jumped on McIntosh from the off. He was wielding huge bombs, most notably left hooks to head and ribs, and McIntosh was covering up for dear life. He was doing a good job of it too. You'd be forgiven for thinking the fight was one sided. It wasn't. McIntosh was eating a lot of leather, but was more than happy to give Patrick some of his own, as for long periods they would furiously exchanged on the ropes. Maxwell was even caught flush and hurt on a couple of occassions.

Ultimately, Maxwell's superior speed and power, especially in his mammoth left hook, saw off the game Wolverhampton 'trier', as the calls from ringside of 'stop it' caught the attention of the referee who stopped the slaughter in the 4th round.

Cracking fight though, best of the undercard without doubt.

A noteworthy appearance further down the card was that of Light Middleweight Geard Ajetovic, a Yugoslavian based in Liverpool, who has over 325 amateur contests to his name, and has fought all over the world in a vest. He beat Joel Ani in 1 round, and is now 4-0 (2 KO's) as a pro, having previously beaten Gary Beardsley in 3 rounds in September. He looks mighty impressive, and you'll hear a lot more about him.
