Barry McGuigan has signed a six-fight deal with Setanta and the Ulster Hall. First show on September 18. Announced in the Ulster Hall press suite on Wednesday

Why didn't B Peters snap Willie Casey up, especially since he Promotes fellow Limerick boxer Andy Lee???

Brilliant news, Frampton is a great prospect. So will these fights be on Setanta Ireland or on a subscription channel?

Just how good is this Frampton? What traits does he have?

Just watched the clip and thought Frampton was in blue, was just about to say he looks poor until I realised he was actually the one dishing the punishment.

well Frampton wants the British title and if Quigg also wants it also then it is unavoidable.

But I don't know whether the Irish public south of the border will take to him like Dunne. Correct me if I'm wrong but does he not consider himself more British than Irish. I know McCullough even with his unionist backround considered himself Irish so maybe I'm wrong.

If you take the example of Frankie Galvin and Macklin. Both irish parents but Galvin considers himself primarily British and Macklin considers himself Irish. Macklin will get the support of the General Irish public, Galvin will not.

From what I've read and heard Frampton considers himself Irish but even saying that I don't think he will get the same type of support Dunne got. This is not because of his background or anything like that but more because Dunne just had something special about him that drew people in whether you loved him or hated him, I don't think Frampton has that but he is an excellent prospect nonetheless who will get plenty of support from all corners of Ireland hopefully.

You are right he wont pull the same crowd as easily as Dunne in Dublin but he might pull a bigger crowd in Belfast.

Frampton is a likeable cracking kid, witty, intelligent, self deprecating humour and has what it takes to sell tickets to all backgrounds, on both sides of the border and the Irish Sea.

He was proud to fight for Ireland as an am and proud of being from Northern Ireland also and will be proud to fight for the British title.

He is untested so far but many people that know a lot more about boxing than I do rate him very highly, others not so highly - time will tell.

Him a Quigg could be the new Dunne-Munroe or Lee-Barker - lets just hope this one actually happens. I am a fan of his anyway.

Carl is a very likeable chap and will sell tickets where ever he fights. Carl sold plenty of tickets for AMA events both north and south of the border and will have no bother shifting tickets anywhere in Ireland of the UK once they see a few of his fights.

Frampton will build a large following in Belfast starting with the Ulster Hall show. Belfast fight fans know their boxing and they like a guy who is exciting and can hit - The Jackal fits the bill. He got a standing ovation (so did his opponent Bailey) in his home pro debut in his last fight from a very vocal Kings Hall crowd.
