Well, I suppose if he's a few pegs behind the other team members then that's his only chance to compete.

But his name would add more interest to the general public's interest in the event.

That said, surname alone shouldn't be a factor on selection, only ability. Others should be afforded the shirt if they are superior.

Yeah it's a dream for them to compete in Commonwealth/Olympic games and if being able to represent another country gives you that opportunity then you take it.

I can understand why he wants to do this now but how will it affect him when he decides to turn pro in this country?
Thats unless the switch to the pakistan team is a cagey first move by khan to break into the highly lucrative pakistani pro boxing market.
The knuckle scraping footie fans will never let him forget that he is not a proper brit after representing another country....mind you any hope of ever being considered a true brit by those idiots probably went out the window when he was born asian.
In the same position I would do exactly the same and if he wins a medal at the commonwealths then it will prove to be a wise move for harry.

Very busy weight in Britain, the younger Yafai brother just won a bronze at the Euro champs, plus with Weaver, Campbell and Ward all competing for a featherweight slot (which is not going to be at the Olympics) not hard to see one of them moving down too.

Haider Ali set the precedent and won Commonwealth gold for Pakistan, although he lacked something as a pro.

That's true, I don't get this attitude at all, Britain is made up of so many different cultures so what is a proper Brit anyway? Someone who refuses to acknowledge their roots in case some ignorant tossers take offense? Only 10 weights at the Olympics now. Featherweight got dropped, although bantam has moved up to 55 or 56kg I believe.
They dropped a weight to get women in without increasing overall number of boxers.

Forgot to mention Selby, the Welsh kid, as well. So 3 of the five medal winners at the Euro Championships, plus Campbell and potentially Ward, will be going for one pace in London 2012
