I've no axe to grind with Conception who can punch and is game; good luck to the kid and who'd not have taken the chance. Prince Arron, Craig Watson and Bradley Price are top drawer and ought to get a shot sooner than later if Martin got the call.

I know people won't agree but I feel Hall is more deserving after his destruction of Randell..

Hall is the most deserving candidate out there.
We need to get rid of these EBU-EU titles and just have the British and European only - get the best fights made.
Concepcion bombed in Prizefighter and won two razor thin fights with Hammond. Hardly form that warrants a British title opportunity.
Maloney has had a shocking run lately, the board shouldn't allow him to get away with such crap. Shit British title fights and Eurobums everywhere.

Well its not good really, but there isn't that much out there.
I would say Hall is more worthy and Aaron (who might not want it)..... other possible contenders include Woolcombe and, dear I mention him, McDonagh.... but neither have fought this year.
I didn't realise Craig Docherty was campaigning at this weight now.

The EU title is decent, in my opinion. I don't see why the EU title should be blamed for anything here.

My point is that there are too many titles generally.
Do we really need area, masters, English/Celtic etc, British, Commonwealth, European, EU/EE and so on?
Surely English, British and European is more than enough.... the Commonwealth is meaningless these days too.
Promoters are using them to avoid making the big fights - the opposite of what we need (and deserve as the paying public).

This is not a mandatory so it was never going to be him. Hall should be appointed mandatory . Small won't fight again I suspect.

that's bias :!:
he got stopped by small in 8rds & has had one since against a guy with 20 losses, that dont merit a shot.
aint he fighting for the european anyway??

To everybody who says Hall deserves it over conception, do you know that conception bombed Hall out in one round?

Hall is one of the most limited fighters in british boxing.

No, because Hall lost his last attempt at the British title by stoppage, and has sinse only beaten a journeyman (who happened to be on a decent run.)

What has Hall done to be made mandatory challenger? Small deserves a shot more than Hall.

Exciting Sam Webb defends his British light-middleweight title against Leicester's Martin Concepcion in London on October 17, promoted by Frank Maloney.
Webb won the title from fellow Londoner Anthony Small on a thrilling decision earlier this year in Dagenham, shrugging off a bad cut over the right eye to outgame the better-boxing Small, although it was close. The new champion is not a big-hitter but an aggressive, hardworking, cut-prone exponent dubbed "The Ricky Hatton of the South" and whose only loss in 17 outings came on cuts back in 2006. It was the 29-year-old's lifelong dream to win a British title so now it must be to win a Lonsdale Belt outright.
If life is never dull with Webb, the same can be said of Concepcion, who challenged for the Commonwealth light-middleweight title held by an in-form Bradley Pryce in 2007 and was poleaxed in three rounds, since when nice guy Martin has re-invented himself by winning the Midlands Area title and defending it twice, although he was eliminated from Prizefighter light-middleweight in his first bout and his form is generally patchy. While the challenger can whack as we saw when he crushed Matthew Hall in a real shocker a few years ago, he does not hold a shot so well but Webb's lack of a huge punch might just suit him.
This could develop into a real tear-up between two men who don't mess about, but the more consistent Webb, roared on his his home fans, is the man most likely to prevail.

I think this'll be a good fight regardless (well I hope so). I think you are right Leeds lad about the promoters using the titles to help fighters along but isn't that the promoters job? I got loadsh friends that say oh It's only a mickey mouse title but I know if I won one they'd be as proud as punch to tout me out that they know a masters or eu champ I know for sure cos I've done it ha ha. My point is I don't think its the boxers fault but I do think it does give people a level at which to judge a boxer. And I like it when people moan about being judged by "joe public" (never met him personally but heard he's a harsh critic) but its the public who pay for our fights and surely they're the only ones who should get a say good or bad? Sorry off subject slightly but had to get that off my chest lol.
