Joe Calzaghe @ Crusierweight

He dominated the Super Middleweight Division.

He conquered the Light Heavyweight Division.

He never stepped up to the Crusierweight divison though.

How do you think undefeated Calzaghe would have fared against the likes of David Haye and Enzo Maccarinelli and Jean Marc Mormeck and O Neil Bell and Steve Cunnigham and Wayen Braithwaite and BJ Flores and Mario Huck and Ola Aflaboi and Denis Lebdev and Johnny Nelson, etc, etc, etc

There is a big difference between a G.I. type grammar nazi and yourself.

FLINT ISLAND's failure to use commas, instead of repeatedly using the word "and", is disappointing.

I feel he should edit his post.

Yep, his punch resistance had declined along with his power, so a CW reign would've been a no-no. An Enzo Macc fight would've been intriguing though.

According to Calzaghe, he could've gone up to heavyweight and win a world-title.

:P

His own book says something along the lines of - You'll never see me fighting at Cruiserweight or heavyweight because my body's not suited to it and I'd look daft with all the extra weight.

He used to kill himself making the weight, to the point of eating one ice cube one day before the weigh-in etc and that's really the sole reason he moved up to light heavy at the end of his career.

His whole style was based on speed and throwing 100+ punches a round, that might work to some extent with fat plodders at 200lbs but if you're talking the top cruiserweights, there's a fair chance they'd knock him to the canvas and keep him there.

Himself, in the 24/7 series of Calzaghe/Jones jr.

I don't think that guy does tongue-in-cheek.

He has the personality of a wet dish-cloth, it's hard to gauge when he's being ironic sometimes.

Quite, but I remember not thinking that it was said tongue-in-cheek, and thinking that he thought that he could do it. In fact, I have never heard him be irnoic, apart from this peach;

"Roy Jones is washed up, what would I get from being the 3rd man to knock him out?" - Calzaghe, in his book.

And he couldn't even do that - now that was ironic.

his own book also states he would have nothing to gain by fighting an over the hill and shot roy jones.

Two years later = legend killer.

the guy had no backbone no moral fibre when it came to doing as he said....his "fear of flying" being another example.

Enzo Calzaghe stated - that he could lump a few punds on Joe and the heavyweight division was in such a poor state - Joe could topple Wladmir and Co and become the heavyweight champ no problem. :OhYes:

Amazing how an undefeated two-weight British world champion gets so much stick on here, it's almost laughable.

He's retired. Move on.

Unless you're a domestic operator with big balls and half Calzaghe's ability you get no respect on here these days.

No way could he fight at crusier, those boys at crusier are hugh, if you looked at his build, Joe could have probably made middle weight.
