just seen Timothy Bradleys twitter feed and apparantly Gary shaw approached Richard Schaefer about making the bradley vs khan fight and Schaefer told him that khan has said he wants to fight Marquez.im assuming thats provided he wins.If Khan does that he'll just be a laughing stock! Also apparantly Bradley vs Alexander will very likely happen on January 29th providing Alexander beats Kotelnik which he should do.

If Marquez beats Diaz then he will still be the undisputed Lightweight champion. I don't see why Khan will be a laughing stock for fighting the undisputed champion from the division below.
How many British fighters are capable of beating the undipsuted champion from the division below their own?

Exactly.
Khan won his WBA title just over 12 months ago, in what many considered to be a 50-50 fight, and suddenly fighting Juan Manuel Marquez (generally considered P4P no.3) is a joke fight.

I wonder if a Khan-Marquez fight would happen at 140 or 135. A fight with Marquez should not be laughed at (unless he looks terrible against Diaz), but to be fair, I think fighting at 140 would negatively affect JMM.
I would still pick Khan at either weight.

It would happen at 140,theres no way on earth khan and roach would agree to go back down to 135 for it!

Khan vs Kotelnik 50-50?!Maybe with some people but i didnt think that.In my eyes and alot of boxing fans around the worlds eyes the reason why khan would be a laughing stock if he fought marquez is that Marquez isnt even big enough really to be a lightweight! Its only his ability and toughness which has won him these fights at the weight,He's a guy who started off his career as a featherweight and when he stepped up and thought mayweather he looked totally ineffective not to mention the fact that he is 36/37 years of age whereas khan is a very fresh 23 yr old!Khans been constantly been beating up on small guys for years! He beat up a blown up super-feather in Limond,A blown up super-feather in gomez and he also fought a blown up fighter in Barrera who was 35 and had started his career at super-bantamweight!Khan wont be truely respected if he takes these type of fights. He'll be seen as a ducker and a guy who beat up legends who were old and out of there weight class! He particularily wont crack the american market like he wants to with those kind of fights.

An up and coming fighter fighting fights stacked in his favour, whatever next.
Limmond and Gomez are in the past, they were part of his progression to this point, and to be fair to Khan, Limmond was the commonwealth lightweight champion, he didn't step up to fight Khan, he'd already stepped up. Marquez is a big name fight, if it happens, it may not even happen yet. Lets see who he fights next before lambasting him for the opponent of a non existent fight, not that I think Marquez is a bad fight. Did you outwardly criticise Bradley for fighting Campbell?
No but Bradley has also fought and beaten holt, witter, peterson and a natural welterweight in abregu.

So? Khan started at lightweight, and has beaten Kotelnik, Salita and Malignaggi at a higher weight. What is your point?
My point is that the guys bradley has beaten are tougher and more dangerous and the guys khan has beaten. Also yes khan was a lightweight but he also got knocked out by a very mediocre lightweight who kevin mitchell a guy who had just come up from super-feather beat with ease!

So?
You don't win or lose fights by proxy. He was ko'd, and he's come back and won a world title at a higher level. Do you think Mitchell would beat Khan because he beat Prescott? I don't. Until they fight you can only judge them on their records, and unless one of them loses they will fight, so just wait.
Yeah he did win a world title at a higher weight class but did he earn his shot in that division? The answer is no.He walked straight into a world title fight because he's a big draw, lets be honest kotelnik is nothing special!

yes because things change, and ppl don't often see the changes coming.
we need to wait and see what happens in the marquez-diaz rematch. if one of them wins in brilliant fashion, then the winner will be a bigger name than bradley and alexander, and will enhance khan's name, without khan having to fight someone his own size and age.

I think Khan-Marquez is a good fight. If Khan beats him 'd like him to face Bradley or Alexander within a year or so and if he beats one or both of them he will start to be considered as the best in the division. Whether it happens is another story.

I know everyone likes to look at these things as if it's some sort of machiavellian plot by Khan, but Marquez would be keen on the fight as he wants to become Mexico's first four-weight world champion. Whichever way you look at it, it's a big fight for Khan and if he won that, I wouldn't be surprised at Golden Boy putting his name forward as a potential Mayweather opponent next year.

I can actually think of worse opponents for Khan!I dont think for a second he can win but he is as fast and Floyd isnt a huge one punch hitter.

If Khan fights Marquez next (assumimg JMM beats Diaz) then for me its a good fight.
As long as within 2 fights after he fights a Bradley, Alexander or Maidana.
I reckon its:
Marquez
Fight in UK against someone like a Zab Judah or Katsidis
Then big one against one of 3 I mentioned above.
If it goes that way you cant argue with that dance card win or lose.

Mayweather would probably pinpoint Khan's chin and turn off the lights in one or two rounds. He may not have a big punching rep, but in this case it wouldn't matter.
Khan/Marquez would be a nice big attention grabbing fight. The JJM reputation is up there with the best - of course it's perfect for Khan, bigger faster younger etc - remember Oscar used to take these type of fights too - but he's good enough to put Khan in trouble too, so could be interesting.
Khan's chin is always going to be the target for a lottery ticket winner ( I think it was D Fischer who wrote recently that he'd seen Amir wobbled in the gym on several occasions, which was a bit odd, as you don't usualy report stuff like that ) so when he's in with good fighters like JJM it makes for great entertainment.

I dont see Judah in Khan's future. Big puncher coming down from Welter.....nah.

khan said in an interview before the kotelnick fight was made that kotelnick was the worst world world champ in any weight and then he moves up the weight to fight him.. i would like to see khan v marquez next if marquez still looks good in his fight. and itd probably be a ppv fight so good chance of it happening?

I have mixed feelings about this potential scrap, while I think Kahn has ridiculous advantages over JMM just like Mayweather did, JMM is far from shot or anything so it could be competitive. JMM managed to land a few right hands on FM throughout the course of the fight, and a couple of them would probably buzz Kahn big time.
JMM has the skills to pay the bills, and like someone else said above he has won all his fights at lightweight through sheer skill and toughness, without having both of these in abundance lightweight would've been a step too far, maybe now LWW against someone who is just as fast and taller, I believe, than FM is another bridge too far. I hope not as JMM is my favourite fighter and do not want to see him embarrassed ever again, but I wouldn't begrudge Kahn a competitive win, I like watch Amir fight.

Amir Khan's next opponent shows himself tonight: the winner of the Juan Manuel Marquez v Juan Diaz lightweight rematch in Las Vegas.
Marquez overcame a customary slow start, and customary cuts and bruises, to outlast a Diaz fighting in his own Houston last year, since when the veteran Mexican has been trounced by Floyd Mayweather Junior up at welterweight. His slow start saw him down in the second round against Mayweather, and he never looked like clawing it back this time, although Marquez didn't take what you could regard as a severe beating. At lightweight, the slick, counterpunching Marquez must still be regarded as a force.
The strong, aggressive Diaz went up to light-welterweight and took a controversial nod over Brooklyn's Paulie Malignaggi in Houston before dropping the points in a rematch in Chicago in December to a man subsequently thrashed by Khan in Madison Square Garden earlier this year, so those are 'iffy' results and, while the Marquez and Diaz are obviously well-matched, the baby bull versus the matador, Diaz was underlined as good but not great by Malignaggi but Marquez has proved for many years, particularly down at featherweight and super-featherweight, that he is one of the best fighters of the modern era. You only have to look at his two wars with Manny Pacquiao to know that and he was blatantly avoided by Naseem Hamed at featherweight. Yes, Diaz holds a fine 12-round decision over Michael "Rocky" Katsidis in Houston in September 2008, but the rugged Aussie may have been flattered here by his three-round destruction of Kevin Mitchell, and you can balance Katsidis with Nate Campbell, the ageing American who outscored Diaz over 12 rounds in Mexico, also in 2008. That was a real surprise.
The first Marquez-Diaz showdown was dominated by Diaz in the early going until Marquez - so smooth and punishing in the groove - began matching Diaz punch for punch before nailing him with right hands and dropping him twice in the ninth round to force the stoppage. Marquez held it together when he busted up in the early rounds while Diaz seemed to lose something when his cut appeared the eighth, and the 'smart' money has been flooding in on Marquez tonight, despite the 10-year age difference between them. (Marquez is 36.) In terms of Khan and his development, it would probably be best if Marquez does prevail, the bigger name of the two and a man who has never been stopped, although Diaz is never in a bad fight.
Either way, the American-based Khan, 23, is on to a good thing on December 11 against the winner. It is all a long way from Manchester in September 2008. Khan must be pinching himself.

it all looks rosy for khan, but what happens when (or if) HBO force him into fighting the bradley-alexander winner or maybe a top welter?
will he be wibbling and wobbling and up and down, as was the case vs limond, gomez?
smart matchmaking can gloss over a heck of a lot. khan has definitely improved. but i wonder if we'll see the old khan, if/wehn the shit hits the fan.
or will he handle the step up in class/size and deliver the goods?

Every question there is why boxing is a great sport. We will only know for sure, when and if.

obviously the badleys and alexanders have to answer that a fair bit sooner. such is the sport, with its haves and have nots. i have to admit, i like the way bardley has improved, in fights vs title holders (witter, holt), fringe contenders (cherry), prospects (peterson) and big welterweight (abregu). he's almost starting to win this sceptic over. he's certainly a fierce little fighter who is proving he can box as well as mug.
i'm not as impressed by him as much of the internet community, who seem to love the likes of bradley and paul williams. but if he keeps on fighting like he is, i'll soon be rooting for him. i'm also glad he's stopped crying after fights.
great opportunity for khan if there is any interest in the marquez-diaz 2 winner after tonight. i'm sure alexander and bradley wouldn't mind enahcing their own name by taking on the lightweight champion.

everyone?
khan is a fortunate fighter, to be able to fight the smaller man rather than one of his more dangerous peers, who are being pushed into fighting each other (bradley and alexander). will this hurt khan, will he fall behind his true peers? or will he be better able to study the competion, perhaps, and have a better chance of being the last man standing at 140?
no doubt bradley and alexander wouldn't turn down the marquez-diaz 2 winner - but these 2 really hard going into a high risk fight vs each other.
