just read the paul appleby post saw that he got 75k according to posters for his fight with lindsay i think, which seemed an awful lot- wondered what deductions he would of got from it and then wondered if anyone had any examples of purse stories or personal experience they would like to share.

If you fought for DK you could expect a lot of deductions.

Depends if they fight for a straight up purse, get a barrow load of tickets on top to sell themselves etc.

Deductions are usually for trainer, training camp fees (flights, hotels etc if abroad) and sometimes manager gets a % too unless they are promoting the show.

A manager would still get a % even if he was promoting the show wouldnt he?!Even if he's promoting and managing the fighter surely he'd still be entitled to a fee as the fighters manager?

Not really that would be double dipping wouldn't it. Manager and Promoter ought to be incentivised very differently.

Allededly apparently only took the manager % from Calzaghe on the one show he didn't promote

Yeah but if you're promoting and managing then arent you doing two roles still and thus should be payed for both roles?

Trainer 10% unless but i think if its over 25k then you can negociate where it can be less. 4% BBBC Tax. Manager can get from 10%-25% but you take out all expensive's before you pay your Manager, Training Camp, expensive's, cuts man etc

A friend of mine boxed for a manager who would take 17.5% VAT from his fighters though he would be able to reclaim at the end of the year. He would also deduce a flat fee of £100 from each boxers purse for travel expenses etc and overnight hotel stays (even if no stay were needed).

Then at the other end of the scale you have the likes of Rushton making up a flask of tea and wrapping some ham sandwiches in clingfilm for later.

When you turn over, you know the score. The trainer gets 10% of your fight earnings.
When negotiating a purse your 'walk away' figure should be in your head minus trainer, cutsman, sparring, expenses and taxes.
To all of a sudden say to a trainer, "right, you've been with me from day one, got me to this level where I am earning loads - now take this or f*ck off!"

My manager has never took a penny from me.

I'll be honest a good trainer is worth more than the 10% they get!!! They put in an awful lot of work and 90% of them end up with fornicate all or worse yet end up losing through boxing as they can't work full time.. They really have to strike it lucky and find a potential world champion cos if they don't they'll just end up dead broke..

For the likes of Tony and Frankie on here, what would you shell out for someone like Mick Williamson to be in your corner for the night? Just curious, as he's not a guy that's going to be in the gym with you every day, but could make a huge difference on fight night, as it were.

I dont think he is expensive.Im sure i remember reading he was only on a few hundred quid even at the top level with Hatton.Obviously his expenses will be taken care of as well.
