Any one know whats happened to him? Booth beat him at the back end of last year but hasn't fought yet. Has he announced his retirement or doing a Ricky Hatton and being inactive?

He's getting married in a few weeks. Helping out at Hartlepool Catholic amateur club and as stated my Senor Cake he's back at graft. Alas the strains of Tom Hark will never be heard again at the Borough Hall.

My dealings with Hunter are always coloured by the fact every time he saw me, he had a go at me for calling his win over Pickering 'controversial'.

For a start, I said no such thing. Secondly, I called him the winner even though I was there reporting for Pickering's local paper! He would never listen though...

He seemed a right fiery sort. I liked to watch him box; he tore through em the 1st few years. I think weight making did him most. He would've been strong enough to move the next weight up in any case if he'd have not gone straight at em. Glad he's got a job at least; the bricky game is not the worst in the world. I know a few who still do well at it.

Just cant understand what happened with him, Ok Molitor out classed him but he just gave up in that fight and the Both fight he didnt look like wanted to be in there..shame

with the booth fight i dont think he should of been in threre, he wasnt right physically or mentally.

I remember two things from the Booth fight.

a) How tall Hunter was for the weight.

b) his spangly new false teeth.

he quit in the molitor fight in his hometown.

he also quit in the booth fight in this hometown when the going got tough. he could be heard shouting "GET ME OUT!!!" to his cornermen on sky.

I hate the way people say I slag boxers off. I'm just stating the truth. What I said was facts. He quit in both fights in his hometown.

However, I wish him luck outside the ring and a happy life. We can't just gloss over his quitjobs though. That's what comes to mind when most think about him, whether they admit it or not.

I think he was a confidence fighter, it's strange what one bad defeat can do cos it seemed to change him from there for the rest of his career. His belief just seemed to take a knock and I don't think he ever seemed to truly look confident or be able to dig it out from the bottom of the well again after the Molitor fight. Maybe also motivation was an issue.

In his defence though, the Molitor fight was a real shocker. Some are adamant that he didn't pack it in, which is ridiculous. After all the build up, Hunter very, very quickly realised he was out of his depth (power wise, I think) and got out as soon as he could. I'm not making any value judgements at all - could have been an intelligent move.

Yes I'm not saying if he did or didn't Ian as I didn't see the fight but everytime I read one of his comments it's a negative one or slagging someone. Just don't see the point. Must be tough being perfect....and exceptionally brave...and so skillful....and so on.

It is strange how it showed a massive heart, confidence and ability to some back in the Pickering fight yet couldn't show it again

To be fair, I remember him as a European, Commonwealth, and British champ with some cracking ko's.

What I remember feeling about the Molitor fight was similar to what I felt during the Mitchell-Katsidis fight.... It took a while to make that step up, and then it was all wiped out in a few painful minutes. Pity.

Like James H, when someone mentions Hunter to me, other than the personal abuse he's directed towards me and his refusal to listen to sense I remember some absolutely cracking nights with an atmosphere second to none at Hartlepool Borough Hall. The Pickering fight is up there with some of the best I've ever seen, atmosphere and heart wise.

At his level, this was his Hatton-Tszyu night - fantastic.

Hunter was a good fighter but was way out of his depth against Molitor,that's not his fault,some have it,some don't.I wouldn't call any fighter a quitter,he was never going to win so why stay in there to take more punishment?

People forget these lads have families etc etc - there is nothing heroic about getting your head smashed in just to appease dickheads in the crowd.

No shame in what Hunter did - he tried, was not good enough at world level and got out before he got really hurt.

I don't think anyone wanted him to get smashed up - he just never really gave it much of a go. I do understand why though and it's easy for sh1tbags like me to say so. What I don't understand is those who say he didn't pack it in - it was clear that he did.

He probably tried to have a go and quickly realised he was not good enough etc etc
