I have just read through an article on sportinglife.com about Alex Arthurs views on his fight with Gomez and his future career.

I have to say Arthur's comment stink of arrogance and an unfounded self belief in just how good he is. Take these snippets...;

"I know I am a better fighter than him (Gomez)," he said. "If I had been able to stick to my game plan of jabbing and moving then I would have won.

Oh really, not what I saw. I saw you flat out on your back and dismantled mr Arthur...

"My plan was to do that for six or seven rounds; then I knew he would fall apart."

A big assumption on Gomez' stamina and abilty, comming from someone Gomez just destroyed.

"Freddie Roach is currently in training camp, and I have not been able to get hold of him to talk about the fight," said Arthur.

"But I don't plan on splitting from him and I may go to America in order to work with him.

Huh??? Oh yes Alex, because Freddie really cares about you now doesn't he, you're right. I expect James Toney will have to take a back seat should you move over to the US Alex... Shhh get over yourself.

Blaming yourself or your corner?

For someone who hasn't achieved as much as he seems to think, Arthur is clearly someone hellbent on believing his own pre-Gomez hype. ARTHUR TOOK ONE HELL OF A BEATING.....Fact.

I suggest he loses his apparent attitude and claims that Gomez was lucky. Lucky = sneaking a dodgy point decision, not being totally battered...

He said if he had stuck to his gameplan he would have won and you comeback with this! The point is if he had stuck to his gameplan he would have won, but he didn't and thats why he got beat.

It was an assumption he made before the fight so Gomez hadn't beaten him when the plan was made had he? And it was a fair guess based on Gomez previous fights.

At what point does he give the impression that he is full of himself in this statement? Roach has said many times that he wants to work with Alex, recently saying that it might not last if AA stays here in the UK and said ideally he'd like to work with Alex all the time so wants him to come to America and base himself in Roach's gym.

Agreed he needs to realise that he lost because he got careless and forgot his gameplan. But in all fairness this is to be expected. Boxers always look for excuses post-defeat, so this is no different.

Point is Gav, not once has Arthur come out and said he got beat by the better man.

Which let's be honest, he was.

He seems to have a huge ego does Arthur, and I am sure it will lead to his undoing again.

I'm not debating that Arthur should just say he lost, but the things Loftgrov is saying are unreasonable IMO.

His ego can also play into his hands as if he wants to maintain it he'll do the necessary work to improve.

Here's hoping i'm right and your wrong.

Humility would not seem to be Triple A's strong point, which is fine when you are winning fights and knocking people out.

But when you get laid out yourself it just makes you look kind of stupid.

Here is hoping AAA comes back and is unaffected by the defeat as he is a real talent.

I would love to see Gomez go on and make some serious money from this point. Three weeks ago most people were saying he was washed up.
All those left hooks later he is suddenly hot property again.

I see where Loftgroov is coming from, might be a little harsh but I understand his point.

I would also add that so many people slated Lennox Lewis for the ridiculous reason of not giving Vitali Klitschko 'respect' after Lennox had just beaten him!

Arthur got KTFO and he doesn't appear to be giving Gomez much credit.

That said, I met Arthur about 18 months ago after he had fought at the York Hall on the same night Tapia was there, and he was a really nice bloke, seemed very humble to me and almost grateful that my friend and myself were paying him compliments.

I have always disliked Arthur. I not so much hate him but always want his opponents to batter him (IE Conway, Limond and Gomez). I do tho' hate the arrogance and cockyness that he posesses, people who call that 'Confidence' are idiots. He is also extremely overrated by a number of people and got the 'Wake Up Call' he deserved against Gomez. AAA has been exposed
He has a long, long way to go before even dreaming of World level and IMO should move up to 135.
