Booth vs. Munroe Unification

Frank Maloney has said that if they both come through their world title shots he'd be happy to match them together in a unification fight, despite the fact that they are great friends. I know they both have tough fights so talk of this is maybe a bit premature but how do you think it would go if it happened? This would be a huge sell in the East Midlands I think, and could be a good bill topper at either the City Ground or the Walkers Stadium next summer.

this will be a miracle if jason and rendall both win. booth has more of a chance imo. can't see munroe coming close to nishioka

Fair enough, but you are missing my point. Assume they both win and talk on the unification fight if it were to happen. How do you think it would go? And how would it sell? I see your from Nottingham so you will have a good idea.

I actually think Munroe has the better chance, if he gets back to his best.

A unification would surely be one of the biggest Midlands fights ever. Someone like bennie would have to put it into perspective for us.

Would a unification between the two of them really be such a big fight?

I can imagine a unification fight between Dunne and Munroe being big due to their rivalry, but there has been nothing similar with Booth and Munroe.

Yes. Especially for British fans.

And you don't need rivalry, as you said you would really look forward to a Wlad/Vitali contest, even though I think it would just be a money-spinner for them. An all-British unification fight doesn't happen often, so I would never scoff at the chance to see one, even Munroe/Booth.

I know Haye/Enzo was the most recent but what was the last one before that?

A nice dream to dream, but I'd be stunned if Booth beats Molitar. Booth is far more canny than Michael Hunter, but the huge step up from domestic to world class is still there and Booth has never shown he can compete in top world class. Good luck to Jason, he'll need it.

I think Munroe was back to form last time.

the terrazas fight was munroe's best performance. he stopped a world rated (at least in the WBC) opponent.

one question: assuming the brits win, would they owe rematches to nishioka and molitor? have either of the current champs got rematch clauses?

Nishioka won't as Munroe was his mandatory, so barring a controversial Munroe decision(not likely in Japan is it) and the WBC ordering an immediate rematch I can't see it happening. Molitor on the otherhand I reckon is likely to have a rematch clause, especially as he has agreed to travel to England for the fight.

However either of Booth or Munroe winning would be a massive shock, both of them winning is almost unthinkable.
