I noticed on Boxrec today that Howard Daley had his boxing license taken off him because of his bad run of loses. His record was 2-21
Does anyone know any boxers with worse records? if so why haven't they had their licenses revoked?

If I trained a bit, maybe I could fight him 50 times in a row and beat Marciano's record and retire as the greatest ever.
What is the best record ever? Surely someone has done something similar to the above?

I'm mates with Robert Harper from Doncaster and he didn't win or draw in 19. He's no excuses for it but does say that after a write up in the daily star that referees were keen to throw him out. He does like to play the pantomime villain though and is a better fighter than his record suggests. He's certainly not scared of anyone who's throwing their weight around.

I remember a while back reading in the Times about a guy who fought in the Midlands called Peter Buckley had over 300 fights in his professional careers. And he had a record of 32 wins 256 losses and 12 draws, but was stopped only 10 times in his 256 defeats, and he would always get his licence renewed every year and go through the his record he has been a good trial horse for young prospects in the early stages of their careers who have gone to be British Champion and beyond or fighters who are rebuilding their confidence after a bad loss.

Peter Buckley had a poor record on paper but could box and had a decent right hand. Boxing was like a steady job and there were loads of lads he could've beat but would've been frozen out and not got to box for months. A poor record can be very deceiving (as can a good one). There's a lot goes on behind the scenes and some referees don't like some trainers and managers and take it out on the boxers.

Johnny Greaves is a good enough fighter... matched right he could win an Area or English belt... but hes fallen into that role now.

Bily Smith lost his first 24, but has since improved a lot

I thought Billy Smith looked half decent the last time I saw him.

You could go down the list , theres loadsa journeymen round the light-welter - welter division , for instance , Karl Taylor , Kristian Laight , Daniel Thorpe , Johnny Greaves , etc etc etc. Surely you cant go and pay to watch your mate fight knowing he's fighting a bum and think he's great when he wins. Its kidology for an up & coming fighter , just an easy payday but when he meets his match after fighting these journey men....BOOM , he gets k.o'd. Seen it happen with a few west mids lads , the minute they up the ante , they lose or get k.o'd.

A journeyman should at least be competitive, and should at least be capable of taking a round or two over six off an average prospect.
If they aren't competing, promoters shouldn't use them.
You never saw Tony Booth getting frozen out for beating some low level prospect, did you?
If a lad isn't winning rounds and competing, the board should be revoking licences, or at least limiting the journeymen to fighting each other.

Danny Thorpe can look after himself....As can Laight, and Taylor

Laight was a England international I understand? Anyone confirm that?
Buckley, Thorpe and Carl Allen could all fight - no doubt about it. Look at some of their better results. Buckley holds a win over Peter Judson and Thorpey has a win over Haider Ali and Jon Honney... Carl has a KO win over Dazzo Willliams...

Then why dont they at least try to win if they are that good, as you know the winner before they step into the ring. . . . .they do it for an easy payday as we all know , and theyre fighting every week bar the odd stoppage , then its 28 days ban. Boxing is just so corrupt its untrue.

Remember a lad Steve Roberts fought - Kirino Garcia, lost his first twenty odd. His record didn't finsh like that. Pat Putnam did an article on him for thesweetscience.com, told bout how he fought when hungry - not from making weight - but because he couldn't afford food.
Worst fighter I've ever seen was Chris Steele, milky bar kid look-a-like about Middleweight - saw him fight a big, noisy lad called Darryl Grafton (sp) at Harvey Hadden.
Sure he'd batter me in a ring within 5 seconds but he was poor.

Journeymen fighting each other would never work because most of them are not ticket sellers. This is one of the factors why they become journeymen. As Jim Evans once said to me "If a boxer can't sell tickets he becomes an away fighter." Becoming an away fighter, taking fights in the other guy's backyard on short notice is the slippery slope to becoming a journeyman.
The way I see it is this; a man can fight but knows he's not going to a huge draw. He has two choices, he either tries his best to make it knowing that fights are going to be limited and he isn't going to make much money or he can take short notice fights, fight often, fiddle his way through and make money every week. Peter Buckley could fight but earned more money as a journeyman than he ever would have if he'd have tried his best throughout his career.

Quite an appropriate name really.
I would agree that Crumble`s record is the worst. 31 fights and lost them all by ko in the first two rounds (most in the first round)
He must have been desperate for the money, plus he will have had the added handicap of everyone he fought not wanting to the first NOT to knock him out. Poor sod.
Anyone have any clips of him in action? I hope he`s not the mullet who fought the British guy and did a funny little dance after being hit and before he collapsed to the canvass. The commentators were pissing themselves at the replays.

The worst pro's I have seen were without a doubt Andrew Hartley and Charlie Zelenoff. Completely terrible. Chris Steele only won one fight and that was against a local chap from here Elias Boswell. Boswell was pretty good and just gassed.
