press the quote button on the top right you dont press the reply button then wirte what you want underneath

Yes, as Real Deal says, click on the quote tag on the top right of the message you are reading, and then you can reply underneath. If in doubt, click on 'Preview' before you actually submit your reply and you can see how your response will look.
