Thinking of going up to Manchester for the Haye vs Audley fight with a few mates and wanted to go to a lap-dancing establishment for refined gentelmen. Can anyone recommend one - have been to 'Long Legs' in Chinatown and that was an eye-opener

Not a fan of strip clubs, they are more wallet openers than eye openers !
For me it's akin to watching a fantastic cookery show... you get the appetite but cannot taste the dish !

Strip clubs are fun but lethal if you are very drunk. Once staggered into Stringfellows in London and staggered out 4 hours later having spent £500!!

You could have spent that on a flight to Thailand, where you'd get a whole lot more than a 3-minute, no-touching dance for your 20 quid!

A rogering off Oliver Fennell. Maybe he was advertising his services and making people aware of the charge?
edit - When I say charge I mean price....I didn't mean he will roger you with a run up.

lap dancing joints are for mugs - Go to one of Manchester's many massage parlours and get a full shag for as little as £40.

You live in Bangkok right, I hear it's harder to get any for free there though with there being so many white men about looking for it. That thought has me contemplating other parts of Thailand. I like being able to get some simply of being white. Bit harder in Seoul that the rest of Korea as well like.

Right, I'm in Bangkok. What you have heard is half-right. Getting some for free is relatively difficult. Prostitution may be rife but strangely that does not mean the society itself is liberal in terms of courtship. "Ordinary" girls are much the same as in other Asian countries in that you have to do more than ply them with four Breezers and a kebab to get them into bed.
As for the amount of white men on the prowl, that is overstated. Although Bangkok is very cosmopolitan, we're still very much a minority. And if you remove the sex tourists, sexpats, thugs and idiots, the number of decent, intelligent, well-intentioned white men of a certain age is lower still. And more than a few of them who spend a certain amount of time here eventually get into the routine of "pay for play" simply because it's easier than going to the effort of actually dating a girl first, given the "result" might be longer coming than back home. Furthermore, many middle-class and above Thai girls are not into white guys because they are aware of the connotations.
So, while genuinely pulling is more difficult than in the West, it's not because of there being hoardes of eligible caucasian bachelors sweeping up everything in sight. Saying that, there are of course a lot of Thai girls who are into Westerners for their own reasons. Perhaps they just dig the cultures, or they consider us more gentlemanly (Thai men have a reputation for chauvinism).
As for considering other parts of Thailand, I'd actually say your chances are LESS there. Bangkok is by a long, long way the most cosmo place here and as such people are much more used to foreigners, more understanding of other cultures, and have more modern approaches to sex and dating. Outside Bangkok, traditional Thai/Asian values are more ingrained and therefore you will have to be even more patient when dating a girl.

Unfortunately, Rhino, I haven't conducted any field research on this matter!
But anecdotal accounts from Asian women do suggest the stereotype is true..
