This is from a better looking video-tape of the fight then he one previously posted on youtube.
This fight was a preliminary on the closed-circuit Thomas Hearns-Pipino Cuevas bout.

Notice Tex Cobb did not look as good as shape or focused as he was for the Norton fight 3 months later.
That may be because Cobb was a late substitute for Cooney who was supposed to fight Shavers on the preliminary of the Hearns -Cuevas
closed-circuit fight.
Actually originally it was scheduled to be Cooney vrs Ron Lyle on the Hearns-Cuevas fight card,Lyle pulled out ,then it was
Cooney-Shavers,
but then Cooney hurt his back/shoulder muscle during training a month earlier,
so finally it became Shavers-Cobb on that fight card.

I was trying to find in watching the film if Shavers tried his ole tatic of,holding back of opponents head with left glove,
and then deliver an uppercut with right hand,
,which he sometimes used in fights(i.e Ellis,Bugner.
Looks like he may have tried it around 8:50).
Cobb was a big rough and tumble guy(former College football player),and looked like he knew Shavers would try it ,but pushed back with
his left shoulder while in close, to avoid Shavers from being able to do it.
It looked like Shavers paused when the bell rang to end second round then threw a right.

Cobb was quoted as saying after the fight on Shavers punches,
"He put my head damned near around my shoulders maybe twice a dozen times"


Shavers handlers took him to the hospital in Detroit during the Hearns fight.
His jaw was cracked in two places.
