According to http://www.BS.com/?m=show&id=30490

Should be a good test for Fury against Holmes, who has one of those records thats not as good as it looks.

This is a bit of footage of him training

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kId5D90dN7E

at least he looks in good shape and his only loss was a controversial one to Brian Minto. He actually posts on Boxrec Current scene as Ivanhoeboxer, hopefully he'll turn up on the thread about the fight the next few days to give his thoughts....lets just say he has some interesting views :)

Think it will be an easier fight than the last one mooted, the draw against a tomato can does not bode well, and is probably why he was not moved up in class untill he was 37!

this is from 2005,
If you consider Holmes is 6'2, the guy he is fighting in that clip looks like a Welterweight.

Yeah, he's a cruiser that Holmes fought there. but at least Holmes looks like he knows his way around a ring, throws correct punches. And should come with some ambition.
I'm happy enough with him as an opponent, did you see the state of that Brazilian they were going to bring over!!

Gavern is much better than Holmes. Holmes has a record built up on a steady diet of tomato cans. Too bad. I was looking forward to Fury-Gavern.

Holmes has the most bulls**t record since Faruk

the fight probably wont happen

why dont people stop avoiding Towers and Danny Hughes??? whats wrong with a traditional build up against brits? hhhmm?

This specific card is for mainly an American viewing audience.

"Real Touch of Sleep"? Please! Davarryl Williamson would have chopped down this pretender in no time!

I maintain that Nelson-De Leon was the genuine 'touch of sleep'.

Looks like Donnell Holmes has had second thoughts about fighting Fury. According to Dan Rafael Twittering, he has pulled out, he is no longer listed on Boxrec to be fighting Fury either. Third opponent to pull out of the fight. Fury has them running scared :DD

Gavern would have been a test.

Holmes was never really going to take the fight IMO. I think he's waiting on his record to earn him a title shot and a big payday -- basically if the Klitschko's blow through everyone else, maybe he'd have a shot. However, that approach hasn't exactly worked well for Cedric Boswell, who is now 40 and still waiting. Maybe he'd be a good choice for this fight...
