rocky marciano.. born rocco machegiano in brockton MS,he was the former undefeated heavyweight champion of the world from 1952 to 1956 only one loss in his amatuer days to a guy named colly wallace after that he never lost again amateur or professional. had an over head looping right he named his sussie q ,the guy was relentless!, he trained hard and fought harder he was the rock of his times and yes sadly died a day before his 45th birthday in a light aircraft crash over LOWA in 1969 :( in my eyes probably one of the greatest fighters to ever step in the ring! RIP ROCKY MARCIANO...THE BROCKTON BOMBER

Iconic in American Culture. I was surprised to find out that a fair amount of kids as young as 10 years old know his name.
I think he is a great representative of what is great about our culture. John L. you said it.....Sheer will and determination. Something that surely is ever present within the human spirit and remarkably often finds premier examples expressed in America. And Rocky certainly qualifies.

And who over 40, cant help but think of "The Rock" whenever they hear this song on the radio anymore after watching the video on MTV 25 years ago.

Ur right that is Carmen Basilio in it.
and I thought for all these years when rememering it, that it was Rocky Marciano that flashed by in it in a nano-second.
(not having seen the video in over 20 years)
We did not have the luxury of being able to freeze frame the tv screen in 1986 to check it out tho.
BTW Im still going to l think of the Rock whenever I hear this song .

Also u noticed that Basilio and Marciano sort of had the same aura as if they drew thier power from some unseen reservoir of force?
