Besides the great Sam Langford...

Who is the greatest fighter that ever came out from Canada?

Definitely an other on that poll. McClarnin would probably be my answer. Dixon worth a look too.

Jack Delaney, Tommy Burns ? Gatti shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath with those guys.

Wasn't Tommy Burns Canadian?

I'd have to go for Chuvalo, but Gatti is my favourite. :TU:

Chuvalo over McClarnin?

Anyway, to hell with these guys...I have it on good authority it is Steve Molitor 8)

The answer is Jimmy McClarnin

I'd put Burns or Delaney 3rd.

Gatti and Chuvalo shouldn't even be options.

Worst constructed poll ever.

Maybe one day you'll summon the gumption to start a thread --- or perhaps it's a lack of imaginative & original thought which prevents you from contributing. If it's indeed the latter (& lemme knows, the best of your insults would support such a notion) my apologies for such undue cruelty.

Please don't put the kaibosh on me, Crazy Joe...

You could make a good case for George Dixon. He was one of the best little fighters ever. He would have to be at least in the top 3.

Pretty handy shout, that.

Thanks

Edit: a guy that a Canadian friend of mine taught me about was Arthur King. Certainly nobody to outdo McClarnin, but an interesting and handy fighter.

Pascal > Gatti.

You thought it was a good poll?

The only one you'd heard of was Gatti so you probably did.

Anyway, I'm off to the Meehan fight tomorrow night. Fancy meeting up so I can rip you a new one?

:D

Quinn/Lyakhovich was a bang up brawl. I'd expect him and Meehan to be exciting.

I'd consider it, yes. I need some clarity first on exactly why my internet posts are so infuriating, so upsetting, that you would actually go through with this (if you will go throgh with it).

I have to admit, Collie, you are not short on courage. Anyone who has no idea who Kid Azteca was has got to have balls of steel to accuse someone of not recognising Gatti

I plan to get there about 6:30pm Irene. That will give me time to chin you, have a hotdog and a couple beers in the bar and still be in my seat for 7pm.

So, are you up for it?

Yeah, it won't be going to a points decision!

Should be fireworks while it lasts...

Now if only Irene is willing to do the curtain raiser with me...

Your relentless back & forth bickering with G.I. has a particular tune come to mind:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBMYow46LxQ

I seriously could see you two meeting each other and having a moment a la a scene I saw not too long ago from the once popular sitcom "Family Matters" where Laura Lee Winslow (I think I have the right Winslow) was intensely arguing with a boy about something and they after a heated exchange of words they stared into each other's eyes and leaned in for a kiss. I hope when you two do meet that you have a lovely affair.
You still here, Baz?

How's the boxing career coming along, mate?

It's between Dixon and McLarnin, for sure.

Answer to what?

Why I'd love to give you a good kicking?

Let's just say I don't like blowhards.

Mc Larnin was Irish.

And Wilfred Benitez was american. He isn't the only fighter that lays claim to where he lived as opposed to where he was born.

Not good enough, mate. I wanna hear you tell me what we both know --- you are offended by my supposed anti-Ali mindset to the point you would (try to) engage me in a fight, as a result of internet postings

Let's hear it, or you can spend the rest of your days pumping iron to opera music as the tears flow... :OhYes:

I'll take that as a "No, I'm just a blowhard" then.
