"It's not like me to trash talk"
That's all you done through the entire video George. You are a quality talent and I feel you have the essentail tools to become a big star but that video reeked of desperation and I can't see it being popular with anyone apart from those close to you.
There is no way that Carl Dilks refused to fight you. The fight with Dilks was confirmed for the Haye-Ruiz undercard but the fight between yourself and Adamu was arranged as Dilks was left to simmer on the undercard. Kudos for taking the better opportunity but it appears to me that it was you who opted out of the Dilks contest.

He is a bit cocky but I feel he is talking that way out of frustration at not being able to box for the British title. Incidentally, one of the following names would be good fights for him:
Paul David
Better than his record suggests. Would be a good test.
http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
Victor Oganov
Huge step up and perhaps too dangerous a fight to take at this stage. He can really bang but at the same time is limited in terms of skills and Groves has the ability to outbox him. Based in Australia, he is eligible to fight for the Commonwealth title.
http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
Stevie McGuire
Fought Brian Magee for the british title, getting stopped in eight by body shots. Big supermiddleweight and a solid domestic operator.
http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
Sebastien Demers
Former world title challenger, perhaps too big a step up at this stage but not much of a puncher and with middleweight being his best weight, could be a viable opponent.
http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
Shannon Taylor
Okay, Taylor's best days were long ago and three weight divisions south of super middleweight....but he has a wealth of experience, went the distance with both Abraham and Mundine and I feel a more than suitable opponent for a ten fight novice.
http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
Michael Bolling
Dangerous fellow prospect. Only one defeat to a South African prospect in South Africa. He lost widely on points which may mean he susceptible to being outboxed. But with 10 knockouts in 12 wins (including a ko win over Victor Oganov) he's perhaps a bit too dangerous in terms of risk and reward.
http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
Tony Dodson
Despite having lost his last two, I think Dodson would make for a good fight. It would also be a good comparison against domestic rivals Smith and Quigley who both beat Dodson.
http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
Patrick Mendy
Won prizefighter and beat Paul David in the process.
http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
Most other British/Commonwealth challengers have fights scheduled. Hopefully Groves gets a fight with one of the above. With just under 2 months to go, there is still enough time to get a good opponent. Clock is ticking though.

Patrick Mendy going down to middleweight. I thought Groves would have fought on Haye card.

Demmers would be good.

Is this guy for real?He was so pleased with himself for making up a nickname for Degale he repeated it 4 times in about 15 seconds! He has been hanging around Haye too much,i half expect to see him wearing a t-shirt with Smigga and Degales decapitated heads on.I cant wait to hear who his opponent is on the 30th.Does he not realise the only reason he is top billing is because Sky will be sweetening Booth up for the Haye fight a fortnight later?Everyone on here knew Dilks was rearing to go back in April only to get sacked off.Destinedtofail didnt do a bad job becoming a household name at the Olympics though, did he?Not long after Dickinson beat Ginger bollocks up,twice.

He's always come across really well in interviews before....shame but I don't read too much into it. Probably sick of Degale's nonsense so acting out of character

George Groves calls out Paul Smith

"George Groves has once again started the war of words with ex amateur and now professional rival James De Gale. De Gale is facing Carl Dilks on September 18th aiming to become mandatory challenger to the British Super Middleweight title, currently held by Paul Smith. Though Smith is expected to vacate following his next defense. Groves the current Commonwealth Super Middleweight champion said
" It's sad the powers that be have granted my old friend James 'destined to fail' DeGale a British title eliminator. It may not seem like much on the surface but to me it looks like he's being conveniently slipped in to fight for the soon to be vacant British title. He's openly stated how his best friend Smith is going to vacate after his next fight due to the fact he's going to box for bigger and better things. He'll probably come through unscathed against Dilks, even though the way he boxes makes you think he's been trained by Peggy Mitchell in the handbag section of TK Maxx. You get that impression from the way he bitches inside and outside the ring. If he gets the title, it will be scandalous ".
Groves then went onto challenge Smith himself by saying "
Poor old Paul Smith, the clock is ticking my friend. They're talking about you boxing for a world title, but if so, in which sport ? Paul, please man up and fight me. I was the first one to ask you and I'm the worthiest opponent for you. Please, please do yourself a favour and fight me before you vacate. I'm not into trash talking but this is me laying it down like it is — and I feel better now it's off my chest ".
Groves is really calling out Smith here. Telling him to man up and fight him. He is only going to get louder and louder and will turn into a boil on Smiths arse in the coming months.
Smith has stated in the past he will never talk about Groves. Well, Groves has no problem shooting his mouth off about both Smith and Degale. Is this Haye-like talk from Groves, in that he is calling out Smith/Degale but will back out of the fights if they call his bluff? Or is Groves seriously coming after Smith?
What do you think would happen in a fight between Groves and Smith. Looking at both fighters, I think Groves has the edge.

I don't think he is 'really calling him out'. I think Groves sounds a bit daft here - 'Please, please fight me. Pretty please Mr. Champion will you fight me?' Why doesn't he just go on Jim'll Fix It.

Video is a bit silly, OK he and Chunky have history but his constant obsession with Smig is pathetic, Like I have said before I actually enjoy watching Groves fight as he is entertaining but what he is saying is just plain disrespectful, I mean he is even bringing up Paul's younger brother??
There are different ways of calling out fighters, I feel myself and Stephen Smith and Frankie Gavin are avoided lately but I wouldn't dream of going as far as that video, Paul won't be goaded by that video and it won't bother him either, I know Paul very well and once again I'll state, He'll fight anyone all they have to do is get into mandatory position or get something he wants, The lad is on the verge of big fights yet people wanna see him in domestic fights for buttons?? My opinion on the fight anyway is that Groves is still young and is not ready for a highly experinced fighter like Paul Smith. Why people are trying to rush him is beyond me?? Did people not see that last fight?? Good
YES!! Experinced
NO!!
I would far prefer to let Paul win the title outright and let Chunky V Groves fight for the vacant title..

Does he really need to put this video out? i like groves and i hope him and degale both get into the world mix eventually but id have a lot more respect for him if he just got his head down and got on with doing what he needs to do

Dissapointing to hear that type of talk from Groves. He doesn't deserve a British title shot yet, he was lucky to get the Comonwealth when he did. He needs to fight a couple of ranked pro's and then talk about fighting for the British title.
I like him and all, but there is a bit too much of this talking your way to title shots nowadays and not going out and earning it.
Sorry George, earn your chance and let your boxing do the talking.

not like george but he s fustrated and rightly so! quigley got beat and hasnt fought in ages...anderson has beat nobody good, same with degale, it's convenient tha he has mr warren backing him and getting him undeserved eliminators.

as a top up & comer & newly crowned champion he has the right to criticise smith's next opponent imo.but on a serious note he need's to stop acting like haye talking like booth ?& be himself.
groves is a good kid & dont need to talk barry.
