It's interesting reading what he said about his first fight in the pro ranks. Sounds like he just froze a bit. Those comments from Frankie Gavin can't have helped either!

Or maybe they did. Certainly goes some way to explaining why he looked a wee bit wary in there.

Yeah, he comes across very well actually. It seems he's maturing. I remember reading an interview after the olympics and he came across as a big time charlie. He was talking about how he'd been shagging soap stars and how he was lapping up the fame. It's good that he's serious about living the life rather than frittering it all away.

It was quite nice to see that his folks are trying to keep him grounded as well, and look after him.

Looking forward to the fight against Dilks, should be a good bout.

Good writer is Donald MCrae. Check out his boxing book "Dark Trade" if you haven't already.

His book about rugby 'winter colours' is one of the best sports books I have ever read. :TU:

I think this is one of the rare times you're wrong fella. Mcrae is far too sharp a writer to fall into that trap and those quotes are too detailed and personalised. Must admit that it's made me look at Degale in a far more positive light.

Me wrong!? Never. No way.
A fair point. Well presented. I retract my earlier statement

De Gale is alright, always has been. Ive spoken to him as an am and pro and he's nothing but polite and has a good sense of humour. Its ironic that he's started to portray himself better through the press to the forum in the same week the forum seemed to agree Groves made a knob of himself in the video. That fight is bubbling along nicely...
