What happened to Herbies's WBC shot?

It would be nice to see Rob get a big fight like this.

I think Rob Norton could win this. It's been almost a year and a half since Lenny and I said that Hide is there for the taking.

Herbie didnt look good in prizefighter but the chance of a Norton victory are very slim...

British cruiserweight champion Rob Norton faces his biggest opponent in possibly his very last fight when he defends against Herbie Hide in November.
The 38-year-old Norton, making his third defence, secures a Lonsdale Belt outright if he wins and is desperate to hang the magnificent old strap over the mantelpiece in Stourbridge before calling it a day, which could inspire something special from the slippery, hard-punching Midlander whose career dates back to 1993.
You know, southpaw Norton has never been able to show his true worth because he languishes in the mire of "Who needs him?", even as British champion. Half the battle with Rob is getting a fight; the other half, when he does, is battling with the inevitable rust. He struggled with David Dolan in two defences of his British title, and Micky Steeds failed to float his boat before that. Someone like Hide is just the man to raise Norton’s game to the level he raised it when he frustrated a peak Darren Corbett in Belfast in 1997 and outscored South Africa’s huge-punching Jacob Mofokeng a little later.
Hide has a deserved reputation as a huge puncher himself but the prickly veteran from Norwich seems to have lost some of his old snap at nearly 40 but still lacks nothing in brashness and fitness and, of course, experience. This is a man who really has seen and done it all, although he found himself mixing in Prizefighter circles earlier this year and you wonder if old Herbie is beginning to conk out.
Nevertheless, the challenger has racked up 14 wins since a meaningless cuts defeat in 2004 and will go in as the betting favourite over Norton - but if boxing is all about timing, big Rob will be enjoying the brisk Autumn winds right now. He will fancy the job.

Does anyone know of any reason why Herbie has taken his shot yet? it's been at least 18 months since he was installed as a challenger

This promises to be a good fight, I know they are both getting on now, but could still be explosive.

Not sure why Herbie hasn't managed to secure a title shot though, thats all he talked about during Prizefighter.

Hide is on the way down. He has looked aged lately.

His attitude is what precludes him getting a title shot even though he has done everything possible.

Hide turned down a final eliminator with Palacios

Almost like dead end. What happened to Hide now if he turned down Palacios fight?

Hide did annoy me in not taking his shot.

Had he won a title shot he would have been the first fighter in history to win a heavyweight title and then win a cruiserweight title afterwards (I think I'm right in saying so)

This should be a good fight.

Wasn't Norton meant to be going to Australia, in what would have been a very rare "proper" commonwealth title defence (ie, not a hometown fight against an unknown African or thrid tier domestic opponent.)

Norton relinquished because the money was not great.
