We've won 3 out of the last 20 grand finals we've played in and people still us........that's good

May the best team win, I think Pies way to strong winners by 25 to 35 points...

Me thinks the first quarter will be crucial. If one team jumps out of the blocks they'll be hard to peg back. And the Woods have a good recent history in this area Although last year's loss will be a great motivator for the Saints

Speaking of getting pisht at town halls....in early '86 I went along with a mate to Preston Town Hall to see Mad Dog Miller beat Paul Ferreri for the Oz feather title (first time at a boxing night. close fight, Mad Dog won it. Loads of mean looking bastards there that night so we kept to ourselves ). Anyway, on the way in there was a dirty big sign that said "no alcohol past this point". And every second person was walking in had a slab under their arm

Some of the names fighting that night...anyone remember these guys?

Dashing Dave Ramsden
Vince Cervi

Barry Michael was also strutting around the place and Lester Ellis was keeping to himself in a corner somewhere

That would have been a great night of fights, I remember Dave Ramsden seen him fight a few times at the Hungarian Community Centre in '93 and I watched Vince Cervi stop James Grima at the Reggio Calabria Club in the mid nineties.
Sadly Vince Cervi was shot and killed a year or so ago.

It was a great night, quite an experience

I remember reading about Cervi being shot. It happened only a couple of km's from my place He was a decent guy by all accounts

Anyone remember Denis Banks? (Collingwood player, late 70's to early 90's). Apparently down at the Pies gym when they boxed he was pretty good, the best boxing skills seen from a footballer in a fair while. Although David Rhys-Jones never got to see those skills because Banks king hit him one afternoon during a game . Rhys-Jones was out before he hit the turf. Normally I don't like seeing king hits but Rhys-Jones was no stranger to handing them out, and and being KO'd was payback for an earlier incident. Darren Millane could handle himself too. I know in the late 80's he told his boxing trainer he wanted to make pain his friend. I wonder how they would have gone as pros with some proper training
