remmeber when FW promised loads of great fights around 130-pounds domestically as alex arthur was closing in on the WBO title? domestic fights with more to fight for. around the time arthur edged stephen foster jr in a really exciting battle. sadly we didn't really get out classic era, as arthur was given a vacant belt and then outboxed in a tame performance vs nicky cook, and cook was blasted out by roman martinez (more on him soon).

more recently, we've seen gary sykes win thrilling fights with anthony crolla and andy morris. real "punch fests", fierce domestic contests with many punches thrown.

and of course ricky burns' long mooted fight with WBO champ roman martinez was an unexpected triumph, and also a fight of the year candidate. burns hurt several times but rallying back and outboxing the champ in a great start to the boxing season.

seems there is plenty to look forward to. when burns defends his title it will be a big boost for scottish boxing.

also, at the domestic and european level there's a great double header with crolla fighting morris in basically an elim for sykes. we know both guys match up exceptionally well with sykes, and they are expected to match up well together, also.

on the same oct 2 show stephen foster jr challenges european champ levan (formerly leva) kirakosyan. we've seen foster jr push arthur all the way. and we've seen kirakosyan destroy lawton and johanesson (twice). they might match up well, pressure vs puncher. this show could be a massive boost for manchester boxing, formerly fight capital of britain.

some might be hoping that foster (if successful) and the crolla-morris-sykes winner might challenge burns. i wonder if that would be a bit tricky with most of those promoted by hatton and burns with FW. still, for the time being there could be plenty of terrific action.
