James Toney v Michael Moorer

At heavy or light heavy what happens?
Minds aside, Moorer was --- at Light-Heavy --- an absolute monster. This guy was a punching machine, designed to rip skulls from spinal columns. Toney would have his work cut out for him. At Heavyweight, Moorer had slowed & lost some snap, but he had experience & still reached 35-0-0 (30 KO's) prior to his maiden loss (including a victory over Holyfield), & Toney was shot by the time he reached this division.BoxBuzz wrote:Your talking one of the historically psychologically strongest fighters vs one of the psychologically weakest. I'm thinkin' this fight may not be about physics...where Moorer might indeed have an edge, but in the squared circle of the noggin and honestly....I don't see how Moorer wins. Toney would talk Moorer into knocking himself out for him While James smoked a stogie and watched.
There are 2 variables that basically make this fight. Is Toney weighing 219 or 238? Is Moorer's head in the game or is he unfocused like he often was at heavy. Either answer decides the fight 99% of the time.Goodnight, Irene wrote:Minds aside, Moorer was --- at Light-Heavy --- an absolute monster. It's conceivable Moorer wins both fights.
Not a straight KO, but I wouldn't call a quick TKO out of the question --- Moorer could stun him & stop him with a heavy, fast flurry, given the right ref & conditions. Moorer was an absolutely massive Light-Heavy, draining significantly, & punching holes through men.Ezzard wrote:Moorer could punch but Toney isn’t going to be stopped by a single shot. Moorer was quite young when at 175… I think he can knock out any LHW with a B+ chin or below but I don’t think he can knock out Toney.
"one of the psychologically weakest" man that's harsh. When did Moorer really display display such a huge psychological weakness? And please don't site the first Holyfield fight. This 'psychologically weak' nonsense was born when Atlas acted like a circus monkey on speed during the first Holyfield fight. Imagine Atlas in Toneys corner during the Tiberi or Jones fight. Moorer was lackluster more than anything.BoxBuzz wrote:Your talking one of the historically psychologically strongest fighters vs one of the psychologically weakest.
