Paul Smith Vs Allan Green - Super 6

Firstly, why not -Green needs an opponent for November.
I have said before, Smith Vs David is a waste of time. In commentary last Saturday, Smith says that Degle and Groves are a step backward. If this is the case so is Paul David. Why not put Degale against David next month, the fight against Dilks was hardly taxing and it would be a reasonable fight for Degale.
Allan Green needs an opponent for te Showtime tripleheader. Smith is well known to the Americans through the Contender series, where he was unbeaten. They need another European to make it 3 v 3 and one that speaks English is even better. This is the level Smith should be at and Allan "stare at my feet" Green is very beatable and also has zero points. Smith and Green have had more or less the same number of fights and this would be chance to go for a proper world title.
What do you think?

Firstly, Smith aint a world beater! Alan Green would beat him handily! I know that's a bit strong but all he does is hit an hold!
Smith will be lucky to be euro champ an thats a massive acheivment that not many will rival.
He aint world level an never will be, this aint a dig Smigga but truth. I had massive hopes for Smigga early but his fighting style bores the tits off me!
Them quigley an dodsen fights were f*ckin awful to watch!

FFS - I am sick of this.
I like Smigga - takes his banter and comes back with his own - in addition he is a very good boxer indeed - but just because he posts on Boxrec's British Forum doesnt mean he is a world class operator

- he has yet to prove that.
Smigga whether you like it or not has not proved himself on the world stage as yet and thus Brian Magee is ahead of him as he is the European Champion.
Smigga will probably go on and prove doubters like me wrong and bloody good luck to him - but ffs he has yet to prove anything beyond domestic level.

I'm not suggesting anything mate. Brian Magee is more deserving no doubt, BUT Smith has appeared in a popular AMERICAN TV boxing show, was unbeaten and is known to an AMERICAN audiece, Magee is not. Showtime, an AMERICAN TV network need an opponent for Green, probably a European. Green has beaten nobody, not one top 10 ranked fighter losing his 2 fights to the 2 decent/semi decent in Miranda's case figters he's fought. Green and Smith are evenly matched as far as i'm concerned.
I'm certainly not trying to ingratiate myself with Smith and certainly not just becasue he posts here. My point is that this could be an ideal situation to put himself forward in a competitive situation which could further his career. And is Green Vs Smith in the Super 6 any less realistic than Derek Chisora Vs Wlad Klitschko? Let's be real shall we.

showtime, it is possible, are trying to get rid of green so that they can have froch-abraham and ward-dirrell in semifinals.
in fact, i think they have.
FW can get his fighters world title opportunities (burns-martinez most recently, cleverly almost there), and obviously prefers to have some control over his fighter's career path if he wins it. rather than relinquishing control and submitting to showtime's rules and all the gruelling fights and problems that come with it.

yeah turns out they're going ahead with stage 3 but no opponent for green
sadly
the article i read only mentioned froch-abraham and ward-dirrell, but there's also green which means bringing in some new person

I thought Green was no longer in the super 6 and it was just straight to the semi-finals?]
As for the OP, I think Green would be a step too far for Smith. I like progress in my favorite fighters careers but it has to be gradual. I feel Smith-Green would be throwing Paul in too deep although there is no doubt he would give it an almighty effort. I'd like to see Smith fighting Magee and other European contenders very soon as I think his career has stagnated at domestic level for far to long.

Will the replacement get Kesslers points from the Froch win or will he start on zero?
If both Green and the new fighter are on zero it could be an explosive fight as they go for the KO to move above Froch should Froch loose. A points win for either would send them both out regardless of Froch/ Abraham

While Green is mediocre when compared to the other fighters in the tournament, I am very confident he would beat Smith. Also, despite being on The Contender, I do not think Smith is well known in the U.S. I had not heard of him until I started frequenting these boards, and he is never mentioned in the CS. I think the four remaining fights should have just been promoted to semifinal fights. Bika would be the ideal choice out of the 'realisitc' options out there, but not being a European might hold him back. He was originally supposed to fight Green, with the winner getting a spot in the tournament.

Do you realise the uproar that would occur in america if smith was allowed into the tournament. All super6 participants have proved they are world class fighters. Smith has struggled with Quigley in a fight many people thought he lost and has been outpointed by a chap called Steven Bendall (No, i haven't heard of him either). So all this considered, he has not proven himself world class and would actually demean the tournament if a fighter who wasnt world class got into it. Green, for all his faults, would have little problem finding Smith either. If Smith an barely beat Quigley, then Allan Green is going to do serious damage. I don't mean any offence, just stating my views respectfully. Maybe they are harsh but surely the majority will agree with my sentiments.
