To be fair if he has flu he should pull out, but why do we always seem to have undelievered promises by sports network. Last december after much promise we got:

Calazge Vs Pudwill
Hatton vs Hutchison

Why would I not be shocked if Tackie pulls out as well.

Still Magee vs Vincent, but I wish this was for the British title, i am sure it would mean more to both fighters.

His career is a joke (through a mixture of circumstances beyond and within his control), we all now that, so no surprises there.

Now he doesn't have a chance to sit by ring side and say, "Next year will be my defining year", which is a shame because that has become a part of british boxing tradition.

Yes, he couldn't make the weight. His last fight at super-middle came in the Summer against Byron Mitchell.

If this is the case then why at least not have Calzaghe in a Light-Heavyweight 10 rounder? Better than nothing and could be against a fairly easy opponent and marketed as JC's move up at last...

Sky don't pay enough for non-title fights. A title fight of any sort is all they want.

Is that definite Bennie, the flu did sound like a load of bollocks at the time, I knew Calzaghe was struggling with weight, so it does make sense. I guess you would have the inside track though wouldn't you, you lucky boy.

Astounding. They will still have other title fights on the card and it will lay the foundations for JC's campaign in the Light-Heavyweight division next year!

I guess this is also why he didn't want to take on any decent fighters this year after mitchell.

stick to that ideal. Those that do, have far longer career, Like Bernard Hopkins, who walks around very close to his fighting weight, because he is always

Calzaghe could have made the weight if he really pushed himself, but had no motivation to push himself for this fight. He'll now move up to light-heavy and go after Branco.

He could have moved up to light heavyweight a year ago, but the challenges looked too stiff then, now he knows Jones is on his way back out of the division, it seems a much better proposition.

190 sounds about right as we all know he doesn't ballon too much and 5% of that is 9.5lbs. So even with a week to go, Joe should be able to go from his walking weight to fight weight OK. With 2.5 weeks to go, i can't see the problem.

As Bennie says, more like he doesn't fancy the effort for the likes of Mger Mqwertyuiop.

I bet by the time he gets that title fight it'll be Michalszewski who's the WBA champ. Just a pity Calzaghe didn't get (or want, seemingly) the chance earlier to move up and take the German's unbeaten record.
