I think it`s a tough fight for Groves and one he`ll do well to win convincingly. He is being matched tough which is refershing to see.
Former World title challenger who took Bute 8 rounds. His past few fights look to have been non events, but as Adam Smith likes to tell us, "these fighters from Ghana are teak tough"
Didn`t Groves turn pro around the same time as David Pryce? The gulf in the opposition they are facing is huge.

This guy has no proven record to suggest he is any good. Yes he has been in with Bute and got battered, but other than 4 decent opponent (his 3 defeats and draw) he has only ever fought noboddies. His record is extremly missleading and makes him out to be better than he is. 18 of his wins to guys with none or 1 win and only 2 more against other none quality.

Yeah, very deceiving record - shrewd matchmaking.

Is this the main event on a televised show?

I didn't know Toney was still boxing. He is not as good as his record suggests, but it's not a terrible fight for someone is still a relative novice. Toney doesn't have any good wins, but he did fight to a draw with world ranked middleweight Randy Griffin, who held Felix Sturm to a draw (most thought Griffin won). Also, all of Toney's losses have come at the hands of good fighters.

It is a bad fight for a Sky Sports main event.
Who will be on the undercard?

It is a good undercard fight, but not really suitable for a main event, I agree. I didn't know that was the case.

I am assuming it is the main event, if it isn't then I agree it is a good undercard fight.

id like to know how it's great match making???
who's seen him fight???
only losses are to bute in 8 & karmazan in 5, both world class fighters who would do the same to almost every british fighter.

A good fight at this stage of his career. Might be a bit of a risk but if he comes through it, it'll be great experience for him. I expect Groves to win this one but he should get a good few rounds. Bute is a lot better now than he was against Toney in my opinion.

No offence to Dilks, but this is a much better level of opponent to be facing if we're going to weigh up the relative potential of Degale and Groves.
It's not the opponent I'd heard it was going to be, but Toney's no joke for a novice bout.

looking at toney's age & size etc. he could be dead at 12st quite possibly.

Looks a more than decent match up for a boxer who's only had 10 fights. Toney has been stopped twice, but only by world champs, and has been 12 rounds 3 times. It's not listed on boxrec yet.

"Toney is the fight I wanted in the first place, the only reason we looked to get a UK-based fighter was for publicity reasons and also to force my way into this British title mix,"
"Toney has an impressive record, he has been in with good company and only come unstuck when facing opponents of the highest level.
"He is the sort of opponent who will bring the best out of me, and serve me well in the long run. I'm looking forward to a tough challenge."
Apparently these are words from Groves

That's all Groves needs to be doing right now. Having decent little tests and learning along the way.
I'm quite happy with this selection as Toney is far from an absolute muppet.

I'm hopefully gonna be in London for this but not sure if i'll get there in time so i don't wanna buy a ticket just yet.
Does anyone know if i'll be able to pay on the door? What's the policy for most York Hall shows?

It probably won't sell out, but you can buy on the door on the night if tickets are left. Check their website nearer the day, it'll say sold out or not (prizefigher was).

The tickets are unreserved, which means you can sit anywhere you like, other than ringside, including upstairs i.e. the balcony.
I think they don't let people in after 8pm though, so don't just tip up at 9pm.

Agree totally mate.
To the whiners: who the feck did DeGale just beat again? Getting beaten at the level of Bute & Karmazin is a bit fricking different than losing in Prizefighter.
