That'd be awful. A genuine title fight and no TV? Not even Primetime? C'mon!

Would be nice for them to get something sorted, even if it was delayed coverage I'd just not look for the result and watch it 'as if live'.

Maloney said a few weeks ago that it will be on sky and that 'at worst' it would be on delay a few hours later, so don't sweat.

Live would be great though

Hi all, I'm new to this forum. Just wanted to say that it would be a crying same if this wasn't shown live. Cos I think a live world title fight on a sunday afternoon involving a british fighter, could open this sport up to a whole new audience. Which could only be a good thing for boxing at this point.

Munroe ain't World class. He is European class not World class.

he's won 2 world title elims and beat a top 10 rated puncher (martinez, remember him) twice.

he is more than qualified for his shot at nishioka. he is better qualified than any of nishioka's challengers and will be his hardest fight in some time.

also, all this class stuff. you'd think one guy was born world class, another born european class, another domestic class. has no one ever come up in class? don't some guys move up in class due to luck, opportunity and having the right connections, the right fight at the right time? is it as simple as how you put it.

this is daft, as i'm not even a massive munroe fan. only warmed to his arm punching style in the last 2 fights but i did appreciate what he'd done before that.

i don't like it when ppl go overboard wanting to expose bias or double standards

munroe beat martinez who had a top 10 ring ranging, then beat him again, and then won not one but two eliminator fights for the WBC title following numerous european title defenses

he's earned his shot and he will give nishioka a good fight. tell me, who else deserves to fight nishioka ahead of munroe?

Barn, I believe there's a palpable difference between deserving a world-title shot and being world-class. Yes, I agree "world-class" is a very subjective word, but it does get overused too much. I am one of Rendell's biggest fans, but I don't think he's world-class just yet. Yes, he may well develop into a world-class fighter, but that doesn't detract away from the fact that he isn't there yet. I must admit though, that when he became Euro champ I thought he was on borrowed time and was punching above his weight, but he has since grown into a very decent European belt-holder. I hope to God he can go onto the next stage and become world-class but I can't see it - I think he's going to get beat by the Jap, but I'll be hoping for different.

i bloody well love asian boxing, loads of punches, mad pace. and nishioka's 2nd and 3rd fights with veeraphol are well overlooked fights that should be classics by now. i think munroe's style will go down well there and his size and fitness will make him give a bloody good account of himself.

You seem to be putting words into my mouth. I know you like Asian boxing - you are one of the few on here that know anything about it. But I have never said that Munroe will not give a good account of himself. He will, most likely. I just can't see him winning - that's all, mate.

i'm predicting nishioka to win a really tough war. that munroe will be competitive, win some rds and have his moments in brutal exchanges.

it is a step up for munroe, vs a puncher, and he's away from home, but his opponent is quite old, can't throw the combos he used to throw and is the smaller man.

really think this is the best fight at 122 after the defeat of poonsawat.

I have a yearly holiday with the misses and we were debating where to go. When the fight got announced that it was in Japan, I said let's go there, but kept it quiet that I was secretly going for the fight. Needless to say, the bitch found out and now it's N. Ireland to see the in-laws.

If anyone deserves to win a world-title, it's Munroe. I hope to God that he comes back with that title. Imagine a first defence in Notts.

might sound sadistic, but i want him to push nishioka all the way in a great fight, losing closely but competitively - securing a rematch.

got a bit sick of watching nishioka vs old mexicans, to be honest. i think this will be his hardest fight since his bantamweight days - unless munroe reacts very badly to the power of nishioka (usually left uppercut & straight left).

recently, guys who weren't supposed to be even the best in their own country - ryol li lee and ricky burns - got the right opportunity, at the right time, in the right place. stepped up and now are considered world class. sometimes it happens that way, unexpectedly. i don't think munroe will be outclassed. perhaps early on, but he will get into the fight.

If Munroe can manage the first 6 rounds, how is this guy's engine. Can Munroe break him down?

nishioka had an insane chin and engine for 12 rds in the 2001 and 2003 veeraphol bouts. in the 2004 fight, in which he was cut bu headclashes and throttled in the entire 2nd half of the fight, he was out of sorts but he lasted the pace.

i think he was given a serious break after what amounted to 4 fights with a possible future hall of famer.

moved up to super bantam, sitting down more on his punches and scoring more spectacular stoppages. but his WBC title winning fight with genaro garcia saw him fighting at a much slower pace. he was hitting and holding a lot, or landing one good shot before stepping away. he has looked better since then but given nishioka's size/age and munroe's size/freshness, i think it will get very rough in there for the champ - if mnroe can impose himself.

at the same time, i wouldn't be surprised if munroe got caught by a quick left cross or a sneak uppercut and hit the deck more than once.

i go for quick sharp start by nishioka with the brit looking bemused/hurt, middle rds to munroe and the champ tiring, nishioka re-establishing himself late, forcing out some big shots.
