Damon Hague and Roddy Doran are bringing a thousand supporters each to their fight at Derby next week (Hague is from Derby; Doran from Shrewsbury). Doran's fans are known to be volatile and I have a feeling the fights outside the ring will be more lively than Hague-Doran itself.

Considering Hague's history (Damon, not William) I'd guess they'll be an "interesting" crew.

I was re-reading an old Ring mag the other day (bog literature) 2001 I think and Hague got a mention in an article about the so-called "re-birth" of UK boxing.

All that struck me was how well connected Brendan Ingle was at the time!

Hmm i think you may be correct Bennie, i used to have many links to the football hooliganism side of things (with Wolves), all of which are now well destroyed i might add and on that score Shewsbury are a mean bunch by all accounts. I would expect a percentage of the group to be football related lads so i think your predictions of trouble are sadly very accurate.

Nah i wasn't but my mate was, he was in to it more than me and still is, i just ran with them a bit but i was more up for the laugh and a drink rather than kicking peoples heads in. There's a ring for that! Anyways i believe the subway had a good result against Birmingham Zulus the other week.

I used to live in Wolves in the 80's (Wednesfield). Ashmore Park was a fun place after dark.

Yeah i am not too far from Wednesfield, but Ashmore Park.... Hmm

You know, I'm hearing from several Midland sources that Doran has a chance against Hague this Friday. I've never seen Doran fight, but I'm told he's a solid boxer, in great shape, 'up' for the fight and unafraid of Hague's big-hitting reputation. He's also been busy of late, whereas Hague hasn't fought for several months. It's a big ask to expect Doran to win in Hague's own hometown of Derby, but stranger things have happened.

I heard they got run on the coach park, one guy was frantically showing his Blues tattoos saying he was a zulu and someone said "so? we are wolves!" and they kicked him in. Zulus were indeed a force although not so much nowadays, i've seen the Cardiff Soul crew first hand and i wouldn't think there are many better than them at the moment.
