Sorry if this has been posted already but I can't see it.
Briggs says he told his corner not to pull him out - which is an interesting idea.
He seems typically lucid and eloquent though...hope there's no lasting effects.

Yeah, he does the usual showboating, calling himself German, etc.
Let's slip - or so it seems - that he'll be back scrapping in Germany soon too. Ouch.

Funny to think that for so long Briggs was thought of as a more a gimmick than a fighter. I'm glad he's put that one to rest. Yep, he likes a camera and a microphone, but you don't take what he did off Vitali unless you are fighter to the core.

It's a shame he didn't have a better career. He'd have made a ludicrously charismatic long term champion.
The anti-Michael Moorer.

Anyone with a decent memory will know that Briggs showed his kahunas versus Lennox back in the day... despite punching himself out, he, for a long time, refused to buckle as Lennox dropped some huge bombs on him....
His record may be full of journeymen he has blown out, but people who questioned his heart prior to the Vitali fight needed to look no further than the LL fight!!!
I am not sure how good an idea it was to get so big though..... bigger isnt always better...
a more mobile 225lb Briggs would have stood a better chance than the 265 muscle man!!!

Had many experiences of Shannon over the years. A frightening looking dude tut a true gent and great professional underneath. A fantastic communicator, very inteligent and articulate too. He's a class act all round.
His drawn fight with Botha in 99 was superb.

I agree, although I don't think he punched himself out more than Lewis warmed up and got accustomed to Briggs' style. He was actually stopped trying to thow a hayemaker and stumbling (although a good decision overall to stop it, the timing was pretty embarresing from the ref - Briggs stumbled to the floor without Lewis touching him and the ref just waved it off).
Great heart, frustrating fighter for sure (a better Danny Williams in many respect). I was convinced he would have at least made some really interesting fights. At 25 and giving a peak Lewis some problems - I thought the likes of him, Tua and Golota would have been the next generation - how wrong was I on all 3.
