Let's try this...

I'm sure someone has had this idea before. But instead of say discussing a dream match like for instance Lennox Lewis vs Muhammad Ali. How about this.

Lennox Lewis vs Ali's Title Challengers
Ali vs Lewis's Title Challengers

Discuss if you please. I will chime in later if people are interested in this sort of comparison that is. Seemed like an interesting enough idea to me.

What age are they during the reigns?

The ages they were during their respective reigns I suppose.

progressing chronologically.

Old Ali would lose to Holyfield and Vitali.

Young Lennox doesn't beat Liston, so I don't even know how to tackle that.

Just think it over and come up with your best judgment like I'm about to do.

That's my take, Lewis loses to Liston. He also loses to Frazier & Foreman. He was better late in his career and I don't know when you want him to get another shot besides those three.

Ali never loses to McCall or Rahman, but in his late 30's he loses to Oldyfield.

Edit: Mid 30's I should say.

I meant like at their peaks. The 27 year old who fought Ruddock and who went on from there, fighting Ali's challengers. The 22 year old Ali and onward fighting Lewis's challengers.

So they never age?

In that case, Ali is undefeated and Lewis gets beat by frazier & foreman.

No not that they never age. This is the best I can explain it. Lewis had various title reigns ranging from 1992 -2003, he was 27 at the start of the first of those. So he starts out at 27 vs Sonny Liston in 1964 and ages each year, so when fighting Foreman in Kinshasa he's 37. Got it?

First 3 fights for Ali.

22 year old Ali vs Donovan " Razor " Ruddock

Ali is troubled for a round or two with the physical strength of Ruddock but is avoiding all of Ruddock's real big bombs. He pecks away with the jab, dropping the occasional hooks and crosses on Ruddock. By Round 6 Ruddock is being fatigued by having to pursue Ali and frequently missing, Ali sensing this opens up his attack flooring Ruddock, Ruddock rises but is a beaten man, Ali flurries backing him into a corner and continues punching until it is waved off by the referee.

Admittedly I don't know much about Tony Tucker so I'll leave the synopsis of that fight and any of the opponent's I'm not familiar with up to someone who knows more about that particular challenger's style. But I hope my description of the proposed Ali vs Ruddock match gave you the idea.

Got you, Lewis still loses to Frazier & Foreman. I guess he retires after that.

I'm not sure Lewis would lose to the 1974 vs of Foreman, Lewis was at his most crafty at being able to use his size by his later years, which he'd be in here. Now I won't argue that Foreman could land a bomb at any point in the first 5 rounds and end it, I know he could. But I believe Lennox is crafty enough to jab Foreman from a distance, tie him up when he gets close, and lean on him and wear him down like he did most of his challengers, I believe he could knock out Foreman in the 10th round.

Ali 32 years old vs Tyson circa 2002

See, think about it. Isn't this fun?

I wonder if Lennox would survive the stuff Sonny Liston allegedly used to blind Ali for a round, if it were applied to Lennox what would've happened?

If Ali was fighting in the same era as Lewis, he would still be the World Champion. Seriously.

Holyfield, Bruno, Bowe, Mercer, Tyson, V Klitchsko, W Klitchsko, Valuev, Byrd, Ruiz, Jones Jr

you can all forget about the world titles - Ali would beat them all. :OhYes:
And he wouldn't lose to Rahman, that's for sure.
