Carl Froch and TV

Froch has been on Primetime of late, not a well known channel and his promoter tells us that without SKY it is a great deal etc. etc.

Now, Bute-Brinkley was on Premier sports, another not well known channel but still one showing boxing nonetheless.

Here is what Froch has to say about Bute-Brinkley:

“I didn’t see it. We don’t get those fights over here in England. For whatever reasons the broadcasters don’t show it"

Surely if Froch doesn't even notice that one of his major rivals and possible no.1 super-middleweight is on UK TV, then how the hell does he expect people to tune in to his bouts on a channel with a similar level of exposure?

I'd say it was more of a sarcastic reply aimed at broadcasters tbh.

There is obviously politics behind Froch not being on tv. As it stands he is one of the biggest names in british boxing, he has held a world title til very recently and is fighting at the world level. How many other fighters in the UK are at that level in their weight division?

It really saddens me that Froch seems to be suffering from his promoters incompetence of not having any sort of decent tv deal for his fighters. I mean Hennessy fighters are currently like the 'gypsies' of the boxing world, fighting on other promoter's cards to get better fights/bits of TV exposure. Sad situation that needs sorting out.

Let's say Froch retires a couple of years down the line and John Murray moves on to a different promoter, Hennessy is going to have VERY little to play with.

Why don't Froch join FW? Surely it would be better for him all-round. Loyalty don't pay your pension.

Because Carl Froch stands for everything FW doesn't. Remember Carl's description of the WBO as the allegedly Boxing Organisation?

He may just retire more of less unknown in the UK. It is a shame.

Froch is making close to making a couple of million dollars from Showtime for the Abraham fight. He has gained unbelievable stateside recognition amongst the fight fans there.

It's not just about being known in the UK. Besides it's not the reason he is in boxing. He gets invites everyday for stuff and opportunites, but he's not arsed with it. He wont be doing a bookazine tour, launching a Iphone app with a launch party.

In simple terms, Froch wants to fight the best and earn the most money and then call it a day. Others have stole his march and said "money dont matter - just the glory" but their talking out their arse holes wheras Froch is legit.

Look at Calzaghe, he made a couple of mill against Jones and the three mill against B-hop he never even got paid, the poor bastard.

Froch would have made that plus more after fighting Dirrell, Kessler and Abraham.
