Former pro-boxer Art Jimmerson is most famous for his appearance in the first ever UFC-event than for his entire boxing career.
He entered the octagon with one glove in 1993 on a 15-fight win streak and after he left it, his career went down the crapper fairly soon.

Jimmerson's pro-boxing record:

At least Toney got choked out, Jimmerson tapped from simply being mounted for a few seconds.

Jimmerson had no clue what the tournament was all about. For all he knew, he was the token boxer placed in a tournament to showcase the different styles of martial arts. Before he entered the cage, the ref showed him in the dressing room what was going to happen to him if taken to the ground. Specifically, the ref explained what an arm-bar was to Art moments before he got in the cage. Now, being a guy who makes his living off of making sure his arms are not broken, Art tapped once he was going on the ground to protect his boxing career.

Fastforward 16 years. James knows what an arm-bar is. Heck, he probably drilled how to avoid being put in one by Mohammad Lawal for the weeks he trained for his match against Randy. James simply had more knoweldge about how an MMA was going to go compared to what Jimmerson could have ever imagined. Art was completely unprepared for his match against Royce (the the fact that the ref moments earlier told him what Royce was going to do to him if the match went to the ground.) James had a chance to learn more from the sport than Art was given.

James had to have known Randy was going to shoot in for a takedown (hence his training with former All American wrestler Lawal) and trained to defend it. Art, on the other hand, had no clue what to expect. He had probably never even seen a takedown attempt in his life until Royce shot in on him.

Art works at an MMA gym today. He knows much much more about the sport today than he did 16 years ago. I saw if they were matched up today, Art would win.

I guess what I am trying to say is that when James fought Randy, he knew what he was getting into. Art, on the other hand, had no idea what he was getting into.
