what next for gavin rees?

rees looked very good for the 1st six rounds against the inexperienced watson.
Watson, hurt rees a few times later on, but rees find the finish.
I still think rees could have had a better career fighting at super feather, he's carried too much weight for most of gist career.
However, their are still a few good domestic fights for him, I'd really like to see him in with mitchell next.

For the first six rounds or so I was thinking what a good fight Rees and Murray would be, but Gavin definitely faded in the second half and that changed my view. Yes, Mitchell or Arthur is more like it IMO.

i think jim watt said ree's looked like he lost his concentration, thats what i think, i think he just switched off when he didnt take him off in the first 6. his fitness cant be a problem hes a busy fighter and has been the full 12 rounds before. he had the energy to take watson out in the 11th!

it wasnt that i'd run out of steam after 6 been doing 10 rounds in the gym easy i boxed good the first 5-6 round and got carried away an got careless and let watson back into the fight he caught me with some good body shots an to be honest they knocked the wind out of me for a couple of rounds but recovered well and got back to the jab and caught him with a lovely right hand and the rest is history any of the names mentioned id happily fight should be some good fights very soon :bag: :bag: :bag: :bag:

i'd rather fight murray has id something to gain out of that but not sure what he's up to looking for a world title fight i see arthur as being the easiest not sure how much he has left i believe he's seen better days and mitchell is a great fighter no shame in losing to a fighter like katsidis sure who ever i end up fighting the fans will be happy :TU:

so the answer to your question murray, mitchell, arthur in that order

Rees is a good fighter IMO - made Prizefighter look easy when it really wasn't!

Another avoided fighter like McCloskey a weight up from him. Here's hoping we see him in a few more fights v soon - think he would beat Arthur but it would be a good fight for him as Arthur still has a decent reputation at British level anywho.

Second that, fair play Gavin.

Glad to hear that stamina wasn't the issue, was a bit concerned that the drop in weight might have been affecting you in your first fight inside the lightweight limit. If you can sort out the concentration issue, a fight with Murray would be an absolute cracker.

yup, fair play Gavin :TU:

Murray is the fight, i think a lot of us would say. it would be very interesting to see who set the early pace, as generally Rees has set out quickest in most of his fights but you can bet Murray wouldn't want to be giving ground- i think there could be some tremendous exchanges right from the start if these two ever went at it :box:

Good performance by Rees at the weekend, it's got to be quite annoying for a guy with such a height advantage looking down at a guy with his hands by his sides, constantly beating him to the punch

Murray may be looking up at the moment but Rees is a former title holder at the higher weight who has only lost once. I hardly consider this a step back for Murray especially if he is kept waiting again (which seems to be the norm for John/Hennessey fighters in general).

Would be a great fight and I'd definitely buy a ticket. Fancy Murray to come through either points or a late stoppage

Would make a great world title eliminator IMO.

if they could get it as a world title elim, it would be worth it for both guys you'd think. as well as fitting in with sky's domestic/euro oriented coverage. it would perhaps tick all the boxes.

i think limond and mcallister would be 2 good matches for rees. then step up to arthur, with mitchell next. by this point i think murray would be a world title holder. now ive always wanted to see rees fight steve forbes from the contender, that would be a cracking fight. and also should aim for ex world champs in spadafora, david diaz, santa cruz and paulus moses. theres also nicky cook who may be has this weight. endless possibilities and if any of the above opponents are his next, it hink motivation shouldnt be an issue
