Know the result and can't make sense of anything on general forum, any B&I forum user able to give us a decent appraisal of how he looked against Margarito last night?

He looked very very good, did get caught a couple of times, but apart from that the performance was near faultless

He looked absolutely unbeatable. I was almost convinced I'd wake up this morning to read a headline along the lines of 'Margarito collapses after fight - rushed to hospital'. It was that bad of a beating.

He essentially went 12 rounds taking the kind of shots that poleaxed Hatton, en masse. His face was a bloody, swollen mess. It got so bad by the 10th round that Pacquiao started to look toward the ref to stop it and instead of finishing Margarito when he was clearly ready to be taken he opted to reign in the devestating shots and box for the last two rounds, probably saving Margarito from some serious damage.

One thing is absolutely apparent to me now. Mayweather can't hurt Pacquiao and the sublime skill and superior speed in Manny's arsenal mean he would almost certainly touch Floyd up. The more I see of Pacquiao the more absurd this notion that Mayweather would box his ears off becomes. Mayweather would be knocked out cold if they fought.

He was simply superb and delivered a masterclass, excellent blurring speed and chilling accuracy, through the guard, around the guard, up and down side to side. He moved well and commanded the ring. Margarito had a high guard and moved forward all night as expected but Manny was getting combinations off and hitting him and moving around him and in/out at will. The only time Margarito had some success was when Manny decided to stay on the ropes and I must admit I think he was doing it because he wanted a bit of tussle toe to toe at times in the later rounds. Otherwise he was the master in there and the difference in class was blatantly obvious. A lot of ooos and ahhhs from people in teh audience, commentators and I alike on some of the punches he hit Margarito with and the angles he used. The little Filipino gets better and better.

Margarito to be fair took his punishment well and kept moving forward all night till the end but he never was going to catch up without a KO. Manny looked even better than he did against Cotto IMO, partly due to Margarito's come forward style where he could get combinations off and partly because he just gets better and better each fight. Commentators gave Margarito 2 rounds but I think he lost every round..maybe drew the 2nd but that's about in a virtuoso performance by Manny.

Gernally agree Charlie, although still think Mayweather beats him. He is so different to anything Pac has fought. Pacquiao, even with his speed will find it hard to hit Mayweather clean. You cannot say, Hatton, Cotto, Margarito or even Oscar are the best defensive fighters in the world - and even if Mayweather gets tagged.... his survival skills are second to none. His Mosley performance made me feel he cannot be beat unless he is outweighed or goes old.

Two of the finest fighters of all time. For me, two top tenners of all time in terms of ability.

He was great. Non-stop combinations and footwork. However, I do think he was feeling the body shots along the ropes and is a little easy to hit.

Mayweather would def. land crisp jabs and even lead rights against Pac, but could he keep Pac off him or tie him up enough to take it to points? I dont see it.

I thought Margarito was going to crumble altogether in the 4th after that body shot. It was an absolute cruncher and he really looked like he was suffering.

I'm starting to wonder just how much size and weight Pacquiao would have to give away in order to run out of steam in a fight. The guy is simply phenomenal.

Absolutely sensational. When I saw the size of Margarito, I was worried for PacMan, if the other guy started landing heavy punches. But his side to side movement and brilliant, blindingly fast combinations must have had even Roberto Duran in awe, sitting at ringside.
At one point Marg almost folded Pacman in two with a body shot, just brutal, but he survived it brilliantly. And his own body shots around 4 almost did Margarito.

Incredible bravery by Margarito, his corner should have pulled him after 10 rounds I thought.

Have watched most of it on web now.... bloody hell he's a machine isn't he and I just want to see if Mayweather can live with the kind of intensity Pacquiao brings. He certainly won't be able to pot-shot his way to a win he'll have to fight... and I don't think he'll live with him and Pacman will just chase him out of the ring, pretty much like Duran outfought Leonard in their first fight. He'll make Mayweather pay for every few shots he throws with interest.

Would Mayweather have put such a beating on Margarito last night? I just don't think so.

He was so good I almost want to see the rhetorical hoops someone would have to jump through in order to decry his performance in any way*.

What was he outweighed by on fight night? Looked like twenty pounds or more & he stood toe-to-toe with the mofo (when he wasn't lighting him up with brilliant footwork & lateral movement) & beat the ever-living shit out of him.

We will miss him when he's gone & not see his like for a very very very long time.

*: Though there's a Mexican lad on Current Scene who's been dissing him ever since he knocked out Barrera that I guarantee you will be saying something like "Floyd destroys him utterly, he wasn't that impressive rah rah rah". I shall go & check in a minute.

Pacman is a sensation. Yes, Margarito was tailor made - however, for someone moving up in weight to utterly dominate him like that, is incredible.

Pacman has shown Mayweather up with the manner of his victories in recent times. He has crushed pretty much everyone put in front of him since losing to Morales in the first fight.

For me, he's the Pinoy version of Homicidal Hank Armstrong. An all action incredible fighting machine. Like armstrong, he never seems to tire, and is able to overcome far bigger opponents with his relentless punching.

I used to think Mayweather would be Pacquiao's antidote, but the more I see of Pacquiao the more I realise the gulf in technique and skill just isn't there. The movement, timing and speed of Pacquiao would be an absolute nightmare for someone who wants to shut up shop and potshot his way to a win. Mayweather cannot win the fight in the manner he's won his last crop of fights. He would absolutely have to come out of his shell and engage Pacquiao because of the amount of leather Pacquiao throws from x amount of angles and deceptive directions he will outscore and likely punish Mayweather if it comes down to having to raid with combinations.

I genuinely believe Mayweather doesn't fancy this fight.

This is true but at the same time, Manny is so different to anything Mayweather has fought, Mayweather has never stepped into the ring with anyone as fast and vicious as Pacquiao, Manny has those axe murderers eyes when he's in the ring, he's like a bloody psychopath. It's a fight that has to happen and hopefully will because this isn't just a great one off fight but potentially a great series of fights.

I think it was 17lbs. Pacquiao said in the post fight interview that he was hurt on one or two occasions, especially the uppercut he got caught with on the ropes, but he looked ok to me, I think he was being modest.

Overall it was an unbelievable performance, I watched it on HBO and at one point Margarito's face was described as a 'grotesque bloody mask'. Pac carried him for the last rounds just to let him finish the fight.

I don't think so, he must have been bloody knackered with slamming his fists off Marg's head for 10 rounds - why break your hands when it's obvious the Mexican was not going down.

I think Pacman is the only guy out there who can keep Mayweather honest, and force him into a real fight.

Mayweather's boxed two old, past it (and one smaller) guys in his last two fights and a Hatton who was basically on the slide before that. Watch his fights against Castillo and imagine Pacman, with all the angles he uses... more I think of it, more I see it will be Pacquiao who wins. It'll be down to Mayweather to show fortitude he's not really had to show during his career, which is a credit to how good he is and the condition he whips himself in for his fights. I just think Manny will take his shots and pay him back with interest and win on points. Also, if you watch Mayweather, for all his defensive cuteness, it is the fundamentals he excels at... oh and he has a skill with his left forearm that he has gotten away with much like Ali used to do by pulling guys' heads down. Pacquaio won't let him get away with any of that though.

Personally felt it was his best performance to date.

Last night convinced me that the Mayweather fight is now, slightly, has Pacquiao as favourite.

Mayweather wouldn't be able to fight on the back foot all night, Pacquiao's relentless speed, power and accuracy will eventually catch Mayweather, who simply doesn't have the power to hurt Pacquiao.

Margarito hit Pacquiao with a couple of solid shots last night and regained his composure instantly.

Yes, he was blatantly using his elbow in Hatton's face throughout the fight. A dangerous and totally illegal tactic.

I think Mayweather is capable of toughing it out if he needs to. I thought Mosley would force him to fight, but Shane didn't seem to fancy it after taking a few.

I think Mayweather can definitely hurt pacman, he punches quickly and its the shots you dont see coming that hurt. I think Mayweather's power is underrated, he is so accurate that when they do connect, they seem to make his opponents very negative.

mayweather will need to fight at a higher tempo than weve ever seen before however to prevail.
Manny has the speed and aggression to
