Does anyone here cut down on their sexual activity to try to optimize performance? Or is it an old wives tale?
Your thoughts on how effective or true this is is greatly appreciated.

It is an old wives' tale. It is not the sex that hurts you, it is staying up all night waiting for her to give in. If you are not in bed by ten o'clock go home.

Having been with the same lass for 17 years, I'm quite prepared to abstain even if the benefits are unproven

It all depends really.
I suppose if you are a two pumps and a squirt man, it aint gonna effect your training.
However, if like me, you are like a rogue elephant distance runner, with a Cortizone shot to the johnson, it can be difficult to jump from one four hour session to another
