Who was this for?

Just read in the report on the Haye V Walkover.

" For the record book, Frankfurt-based Serbian, Enid Licina (14st 2lbs, now 19-2) beat Texan Felix Cora Jr (14st 1/4 lb, now 22-4-2) by unanimous decision in what was billed as an eliminator for the IBF cruiserweight title. Scores were 117-112, 116-112 and 116-113. "

What on Earth? Why was that on the bill- I'd guess for the benefit of one of the international TV stations who were screening the event?

Actually sounds like a pretty decent fight - totally slipped under the radar.

I'm pretty sure it was for Sauerland.

I didn't even notice it was on the undercard! And it didn't get much in any write up, considering that it was a 12 round eliminator.

It's not really that important. Licina should be a relatively easy defence for Cunningham. There's nothing there to capture the public's imagination. Cora Jr is very far from World class. It's boxing politics, rather than a boxer earning his shot. Troy Ross should be the one having another crack at Cunningham.

Yeah, Sauerland.

It didn't get much in my write up for two reasons:

a) we specialise in British stuff and I'm not bothered about this at all
b) I was filing my piece on the three earlier fights - people who were interested had a report on them online by 7.30 which is pretty speedy

I was expecting it as part of the PPV broadcast - but couldn't believe they didn't show the Hall vs Davies fight in full..... I don't think it is particularly fair that it will probably be shown in full on the highlights show (if there is one). Call me pedantic, but I do feel those who elect not to pay shouldn't get to see the same amount of action as those who do pay (albeit on delay).

DH vs AH always had farce written on it.... but when the Edwards vs Sexton fight was scrapped, I thought by replacing it with this eliminator - it showed Sky wanted to show some undercard. How wrong was I.
