Lee put it up to Bryan Vera 2 weeks ago to replace Pavlik when he pulled out of their fight,but Vera wouldn't go for it.
Fight in germany,then Duddy in Feb 2011,then Barker for Vacent Euro title and then world title double bill with big bang Willie Casey in Limericks Thomond Park.

I mentioned this about a million years ago.

Ireland lightweight hope Andy Murray takes on mysterious Brazilian Claudinei Lacerda over 10 rounds this weekend in the Irish Republic.
Murray, a dedicated, talented kid who lacks power, got in a good 10-round workout against Dominican visitor John Nolasco just last month in Ireland to stretch his unbeaten record to 22-0 (12) so we can expect him to be nice and sharp for Lacerda, who has an OK record on paper at 13-1 (9) but is already 30 and has yet to really fight anyone.
Lacerda suffers for a lack of opposition in Brazil, which is hardly a hotbed of boxing, but his only defeat came at the hands of fellow countryman Andre Nascimento back in April 2006 (points), who is proving a good journeyman on the European circuit, if no more than that, after which Lacerda fought only once in the next two years. He managed a few more fights in recent years and is on a winning run of eight since Nascimento (six early).
Lacerda looks like he can whack a bit, but Murray holds a shot well, anyway, and his defence is good. The fight really swings Murray's way when you consider that Lacerda makes his first trip away outside of Brazil. The clever, accurate Murray will box his way into a good lead as Lacerda struggles to get off. Stylish Andy continues to box clever down the stretch on the way to a solid points win.

I think it is a good fight for Lee, a chance to right a wrong before he fights Duddy in March.

I dont get what you and the likes of Bennie have against Lee. Very strange.

A fight with Duddy has lost a lot of its appeal now, with Duddy losing so convincingly to Chavez Jr. A rematch with Vera will be nice for Lee to move forwards, knowing he has beaten everyone put in front of him. But really he should be facing a higher calibre of opponent now.

I've got nothing against Lee, but you can't expect to go around defending his match-making on these boards with veiled references to a 'master plan' and then not get called out on it. What I find far more bizarre than my position is your utter refusal to look at Lee's stagnation through anything other than shamrock-tinted glasses

Can you justify any of that sentance? Its about as justifiable as if I said British posters "Lee-hating" is based on their anti-Irish prejudice! Actually less justifiable.

As for Lee's career, its seems to be going pretty well actually. At the end of this year he will have gotten himself in great condition, having had five fights this year with a revenge match against Vera and a Duddy clash already set for the first half of next year.

Would you rather him sit around scratching his gash doing nothing until a world title fight falls on his lap?

I'd love for him to go on and achieve, it might quiten down a couple of the clowns on here.

Of course not, and you're missing the point that some of us are trying to make. Lee shouldn't be fighting guys rated between 30-100 in the World. He should be fighting top 25 boxers at this stage, in between easier fights if he wants to stay busy.

If he continues to fight boxers at a lower level, when he finally does step up (at World class level) it will be much harder for him to win.

Yes, it's perfectly easy to justify all of it. You have a self-acknowledged bias towards Irish fighters and that on occasion skews your perspective, hence the 'tinted' reference. What exactly is contentious about that statement? I'm certainly biased towards certain fighters at times, whether that's on the basis of nationality, style or personality, as we all are, so why the dramatic reaction from your side?
Unfortunately you illustrate your irrational bias yet again in attempting to justify Lee spending two vital years of his career in the boxing 'wilderness', both metaphorically and physically. The difference between us is most of us knocking the way Lee's career is being handled attempt to offer informed critiques (Asterix's post is right on the money by the way), while you make ludicrous claims that fighting body-bags in tank-towns in the mid-West is the right way to manage Lee's career.
Oh, I feel obliged to mention that the great irony in all of this is that my father was from Athlone and I grew up idolising the likes of McGuigan and Dave 'Boy' McAauley, and have gone on to root for the likes of Steve Collins. Have I on occasion been guilty of looking at them more favourably because of their nationality? Possibly. But where we differ, is that while I'm proud of those roots, I don't allow them to blind me...
