Saul Alvarez (34-0-1, 26 KOs) vs. Lovemore Ndou (47-11-2, 31 KOs)

Most of you would probably remember Alvarez for that impressive win on the Mosley Floyd Under-card earlier this year, Saul Alvarez who since has had an impressive 6th round KO of Carlos Baldomir.

Who you think will take this?

Alvarez , too big , too strong. possibly by late stoppage.

I have only seen Saul Alvarez fight once, that was against Jose Miguel Cotto (Miguel's Brother I believe) this fight was at 150lbs even though Cotto has never fought at more than 140lbs. Alvarez won by TKO but it wasnt a really convincing victory, Cotto had periods in the fight where he tagged what looked like a hittable Alvarez. Cotto could have easily gone the distance, he was taking alot of punishment but not in any great trouble, I think the referee knew Cotto couldn't win the fight and thus decided he had taken enough punishment. Alvarez is apparently seen as one of the most exciting prospects in boxing today, his Mexican heritage makes him a big draw in Latin America.

For this bout, I notice Lovemore is going up in weight (he has never fought at Light Middleweight) and so it would seem Alvarez's people are picking names who are near their use by date to make his record look good. I cant see Lovemore winning the fight, in my book he will do well if he can last the distance with this young and hungry prospect. I would like to write something more positive about the fight from Lovemore's perspective, but that is how I see it.

Silver titles are rubbish. Baldomir has not done much lately, so I take no form line from that.
Ndou is unpredictable. He can be a world beater one month and hopeless the next. Who knows?

Jose Miguel Cotto is indeed Miguel Angel Cotto's younger brother, but, as my old trainer once said in relation to a boxer's similar relationship to a former world Champion, "I've got shoes on, but I ain't walking."

Jose Cotto is Miguel's older brother, and far less gifted then Miguel.

Saul is 20 years old and stepping up against a more experienced/decorated fighter in Ndou.

I think Saul is going to be too strong

I am surprised they are not fighting for Ndou's IBO welterweight title instead of that silver rubbish.

I'm guessing Saul didn't want to move down that far in weight...

It is only a few months since he was NABF Welterweight champion. Most of his fights have been at welterweight.

Saul easily outpointed Ndou yesterday, with another impressive performance by the 20 year old

Lovemore is nearly twice his age and took the fight at very short notice.
