Froch - Abraham:Poll

Who wins the real "big fight" that happens this Saturday? This really could be fight of the year and a fight I've been looking forward to it for since the super six started! The bookies favour Abraham by knockout and I can see why. If Froch leaves himself open and goes to war like he did against Pascal, he could very well find himself looking up at the lights.
However, I have somewhat a gut feeling that Froch will utilise his under-rated jab and boxing skills mixed with some spiteful big shots to keep Abraham at bay. At first I thought Abraham by ko all day. But I've gone backwards and forwards in my mind. Now I'm leaning towards a Froch points win. It really is one of those fights that can't help but be a good one! Thoughts?

Hopefully, but I have never seen him do that for more than a few rounds. I am leaning towards AA right now. Should be a great fight no matter who wins,

I fancy Froch just about on workrate, Abraham fights in spurts and if Carl can get in and out and doesn't take too many silly shots he can win a decision.
How this ended up in Finland is another matter though, I wonder what sort of atmoshere it will be.

Not a clue. Carl can be hit and Abraham can really crack.
I think Froch will have his way with him early doors, before Abraham comes at him like a freight train later.
I can see both men getting hurt and busted in this one, with them both coming off a defeat.
Brilliant fight.

Abraham points. It will be a war, but Abraham has a better defence. Carl will leave himself too open to often, and Abraham's shorter punches will land more often.

Great match-up
Leaning towards an Abraham stoppage late on ... then again, an early Froch stoppage seems plausable ...

I'm going to be a bit controversial and plum for a Froch win by KO. Reason for this is that although AA can bang, so can Froch, Both have awesome chins, but Froch is the naturally bigger man, Lets not forget this will only be AAs third fight at this weight.
I also believe that AA has never been in a ring with anyone who will hit as hard as Froch does.
AA has a solid defense but Froch the higher aggression and workrate.
I just changed my mind to Froch by decision.........Its going to be a cracker!

One thing we can be sure of this Saturday in Helsinki: Carl Froch against Arthur Abraham is going to be a war.
Froch, the big, strong Nottingham man of Polish descent, faces the big, strong Abraham, a German of Armenian descent - two powerhouses coming together, two powerhouses desperate to win after their last fights, their first ever losses. It whips up a mixture marked 'explosive'.
Froch was outsmarted by Danish star Mikkel Kessler earlier this year in Denmark to see his record fall to 25-1 (20) while Abraham got slung out against slick American Andre Dirrell over in the States and fell to 31-1 (25). Neither defeat signifies the end. Indeed, a quick look at Froch's record tells you that he has never faced a puncher like Abraham, but then, Abraham has never faced a super-middleweight like Froch, with his iron jaw, his long arms, his heavy hands and his cleverness. Abraham was down at middleweight just a year ago.
The key to the winner of this one lies in Froch's chin. Abraham is going to hit Froch with the kind of shots that buckled his previous opponents, and the cocksure Briton is going to shrug them off and fire back. Both men enjoy great stamina, so the fight is sure to hit the later rounds, by which time Carl's greater natural strength will begin to tell and he seals victory with a big finish.
Froch, on a brutal decision.

I agree with all the above posts. This fight will be fascinating and exciting from start to finish. I think Froch might be able to force a stoppage here, or win on points.Previously, I thought Abraham by stoppage, but having thought about it some more and based on their last performances, I think Froch will be too big and too rangy for Abraham. It's a fight where I will be pleased for the winner but sad for the loser.I have a real soft spot for Abraham, and I like Froch as well (I enjoyed watching him putting Kalle Saureland in his place on fight camp: 360 part8 ).
Good luck to the both of them.
Incidently, anyone find it suspicious that Dirrel pulled out of fighting his mate Ward, and is already looking at fighting again early next year? Hmm.

after a lot of thought i am going for Froch by points
AA's habit of putting the earmuffs on will help him build up points and i think Froch is *just* good enough defensively to avoid getting KTFO

Froch by Majority Decision.

Froch, as long as he invests in some bodywork (& they have a ref that'll call AA about having his belt up around his nipples) early whilst AA has the earmuffs on.
Points, or maybe a late stoppage, as AA looked surprised when floored (twice by my count, if not the ref's) against Dirrell & Froch will hit him harder, though admittedly not as quickly or accurately.

A true "could go either way" fight.
I go for Froch by stoppage. He might just be able to grind down AA and force the referee to call a halt.
One hell of a tough fight, but they are used to it (particularly Froch). In the years to come Froch's career will be referred to time and again in debates to illustrate what genuine world class performers should be like. Enjoy while it lasts becuase there are not too many who are willing to put themselves on the line this way AND have a manager who has delivered the big fights.

The thing that dissapoints me the most is, Carl Froch is currently my favourite home town fighter, and has achieved a great deal over the last 3 years winning his world title and taking on the best in the division. But when you mention his name to the average sports fan, they've never heard of him.
As for the fight, I think alot depends on whether AA can take the punches of a hard hitting Super Middleweight. If he can then he could potentially give Carl a very tough fight.

Froch was hurt against Taylor, Dirrell and Kessler. His last 3 opponents.
Abraham was hurt against Taylor, but not Dirrell.
Froch is bigger and stronger, but Abraham is more heavy handed (I think).
Really it depends on the game plans they employ. I've read that Froch has been practising smashing through a tight guard, and that Abraham is planning to start more quickly than usual. If they trade I'd have to favour Abraham due to his explosiveness and accuracy. In fact, I'd favour him if it was more of a boxing contest as well.
Abraham by KO for me. Great fight, though.

Abraham suffered his first knockdown of his career and his right eye split when he fought Dirrell.
I'd say he got a lot more bust up than Froch.

AA was already stumbling backwards when Dirrell caught him to put him down for the 1st time. AA's knockdown of Dirrell in that fight was a lot more legit for me, even though it was ruled a slip.
Froch needs to put in a lot more work than he did in the Kessler fight to win this one. If AA covers up like he did in the Dirrell fight, Froch needs to do lots of work to the body to take some of the steam out of his shots in the later rounds.
Can't wait for this one!

His legs weren't affected. It was a balance issue. Although, to be fair, even though Froch was knocked down very cleanly by Taylor, it didn't affect his legs at all.

I had a dream last night about this fight so I'm going for the result that occured in my dream, a draw.

I think Froch outworks Abraham but gets KO'd late when Abraham goes head hunting and lands a bomb.

i've said this before, if AA targets Froch with the right hand to the body, where kessler really seemed to get to him, it could make things very interesting.

I honestly think Abraham will destroy Froch in around 6 or 7 one sided rounds - but I hope I'm wrong.

I think Froch will find ways past Abraham's guard but I'm concerned he is tight at the weight and may flag late on. I'll say Abraham late or on points but I really hope I'm wrong because Froch is one of my all-time favourites.
