Well there goes another one of our Brummie hopefull's..........

What happened there? Elcock got sparked by a guy who struggled to outpoint Jason Collins and Howard Clarke in his last two fights and was jumping up from four-rounders.

last punch caught him on the temple and elcock got on one knee at 7 and didnt want to get up

I don't blame him for not getting up - he was absolutely short circuited by that right to the temple.
Wayne went down Herbie Hide style. Looks like he doesn't hold a shot too well..

How good is the Scotsman I wonder? Looks like his his chin is ok as he took a few, and he can obviously punch ok too!

How bad does it make Anthony Farnell look!

I've always been suspicious about Elcock's chin and the KO didn't surprise me too much.

Murphy had 4 KOs in his first 5 fights, and the hand trouble as well suggests he is a puncher despite the recent point wins he's had.

He showed good basic skills, nice jab which compliments his height advantage.

Kind of puts the British middleweight scene back in limbo. Farnell was obviously not a world-class guy when he couldn't get by Groenwald (who himself was limited), and now Elcock isn't either. One can only wonder how long this new guy will last with that WBU belt.

Limbo. I'm sure that when Gary Lockett gets back in the ring he will dispatch of whatever doubts there are as to who is the premier Middleweight. Although he has not looked too impressive of late, look at the pedigree of opponent he has beaten! Yuri Tsarenko, Kevin Kelly!! And with reference to Lawrence Murphey, look what Lockett did to Jason Collins, and Howard Clarke!!

Good point Bennie, i was sitting at work on nightshift last night watching ESPN Friday Night Fights and suddenly thought "Damn how limited is Farnell!", although i thought the Sky blokes managed to whip themselves up into mass hysteria over Murphy after ONE punch. I mean i don't want to take anything away from the lad but it was not like he mastered Elcock for 12 like Elcock himself had previously done to Farnell, but i think Sky's embarrassment at Elcock's loss caused them to immediately jump on the Murphy bandwagon as a cover, what's the odds on Murphy's next fight being on Sky? On the subject of this fight doesn't Murphy's win put into context the wreck all these minor titles leave Boxing in? I mean Murphy has done relatively nothing throughout his short career and then one punch and bang he is a "World Champion", it sickens me, but finally on a more sincere not i hope Elcock is ok.

Before the fight started I was thinking to myself what a picture of health Elcock appeared to be. But then as soon as the first bell rang the "champion" looked uncomfortable with the task that faced him. It's like he expected his aggressive tactics to have some kind of affect on Murphy straight away but they didn't at all, it looked like a middle vs a super middle in there.

With all these upsets you wonder what else might happen this month with Enzo/Hatton/Witter/Cotto/Mayorga etc.

Missed the show but I must say this is a blow for the Birmingham fight scene. Not long ago we were talking of Macklin and Elcock fronting a show which would see the return of big time boxing to the city, but this run of results has put us back in the dulldrums.

Gutted.

Macklin is now training with Billy Graham in Manchester and is hopeful of a return with Facey at the end of January. Lets hope The Preacher can help his body work and head movement. I feel Macklin can come on leaps and bounds up there - the Manchester style can well suit him.
