Interesting take on Froch's task

I really hope I'm wrong (fortunately, I often am) but I fear Brendan is correct...though I think it will be later.

I heard on Buncey's radio show that Rob McCracken and Carl have been working on 'not standing in front of your opponent' for three or four months now...hard to teach an old dog new tricks though.

Froch's low profile is criminal...what a fighter, what a CV.

Oh, for a diametrically opposed preview in terms of quality, check out this detritus:

I stumbled into it by mistake, rather like stepping on a dog deposit. Ugh.

The BN24 ''article'' is absolutely shocking.

I never knew that fights were won and lost at the all important staredown...... or the press conference..... or the weigh-in.

I do feel that Abraham is being made out to be something that he is not - i.e. a seriously murderous puncher. He's not Tommy Hearns, that's for sure.

Froch needs to use his reach and start fast to get the early rounds in the bag. When Abraham starts to open up, additional opportunities will present themselves.... it's then up to Carl to take advantage and get the job done.

Can't see a stoppage in this one, Froch probably has a better defence than is widely perceived to be the case, and the opposite is true with his chin.

Both are blood and guts warriors, but I just think Carl gets the job done on a razor thin, probably split decision with one card way out of kilter.

Get me that guy's number please Ian, a terrific and insightful preview rammed with knowledge and pure genius.

FFS! Frochy scared! Of ANYTHING?!

Do think he'll struggle tonight though. He punches so wide and Abraham is so compact with that guard. That said, not sure I agree with Brendan re Abraham being the puncher in this fight, Frochy will be the first career super middle Arthur has faced - and Frochy is heavy handed. Who the puncher is remains to be determined, I think. However, it's almost certain that Abraham will be able to land more punches, and that will be key. But if Frochy can land some of his wide, clubbing hooks around the side of AA's guard, will Arthur be able to take it? Not sure either of them will be able to alter their styles at this stage in their careers, old dogs struggle with new tricks. Got the makings of a tremendous fight, whatever. On balance, I'd go for AA on points. But let's see if he can take Frochy's power, that could be the deciding factor.

Although Abraham carries a heavy whack and poses genuine danger....he is a fighter unable to fight hard for an extended period in any round. He is sporadic in his attacking, and that is huge vulnerability agains an opponent in Froch who we know can fight at a punishing pace for all 12 rounds if needed.

Froch needs to stay busy with his jab to get Abe to commit to his defense and then work around Abraham's turtle shell, especially to the body. Meet and greet Abe's sporadic bursts with sharp counters, and above all else.....when Abrahams wants to rest force him to keep working and draw his sting.

If Abraham(wary or falling behind) tries coming out faster then the norm, then thats not a bad thing for Froch as Abe will have to give up defense and he'll also put himself at even greater risk of gassing out if it goes deep.

Its a hard fight, a difficult fight. But overall it is a fight that Froch should win.

There's a few fighters Abraham has not put away. Eastman and the likes.

Nonetheless Arthur has great power, underated accuracy and he picks his moments beautifully.

That said he can be overly economical. I've seen 11 or 12 of his fights in Germany where he complains to the ref, when a shot goes into the body and he declares it's low. His shorts are usually a few inches above their natural position and anything that hits that waist line gets a nod towards the referee.

Carl needs to get Abraham revved up, get him throwing larger quantities of punches instead of hard, pot shots which he tends to depend on.

Uli has already stated he wants Abraham to contest the early rounds instead of handing them on a plate. If he adopts this new approach he could use up his reserves that he normally keeps for the later rounds and could be tired and ragged for Froch to capitilise on.

The fact he has been heavy in the lead up to this fight and scraped in at the weight limit maximum also tells a small story as to whether or not they have just been working on a bingo punch, rather than training for 12 rounds of high-output. Considering he is coming up from middleweight, I'm surprised he hasn't come in a pound or more under and a bit drier. His skin looked thick and his muscle bellies were pretty full, so he's not broke his neck in training the last 2 weeks on the cardio side of things.

Gomez, you're spot on buddy. Eastman had AA in all sorts of trouble and when the fight was stopped Eastman didn't look one bit hurt - I believe that Froch is the man to trouble AA and with a bit of luck and no "German" ref in there, he can do it. :TU:

I'm behind Froch all the way. I just think that his punch resistance will eventually run out all at once. Would love him to spark Abraham.

I agree - I will be rooting for Froch and I hope that he can get the big guns off early doors to test AA's chin and rib cage - but I have been concerned from the off about his unprotected chin. I can't wait for this :box:

I would love Froch to win - he deserves a break and I reckon we would see him on Sky should he win.

However, like most I reckon he takes too many shots and from a puncher like AA I reckon he may get stopped and it may be early.

Hope I'm wrong

So he did! I was just about to start writing a scaving reply (thinking that he was stopped in the 7th), but now realise that was Miranda!

funny cause I was thinking of posting that boxingnews24 bollocks - definitely the DOWNSIDE of the internet! These hapless nut jobs posting "articles" that look like they might be serious, until you read them....how this clueless wonder reads Froch as being scared I'll never know.

There's not many giving Froch much chance it seems, which is odd for what's really a 50/50 affair. But yes, AA gets the edge in the battle of punchers, as he's much harder to hit, so far.

This is a true 50/50 fight. Carl Froch is some fighter; he does not back away from a challenge and this should be on SKY. There should be real fireworks and I think a close points win for Carl; he can be a bit too game though so may come through a few real scares.

Froch aint scared - prob be a good tactic to pretend to be scared I reckon, and then give em the shock of their life at the first bell

abrahams is ten times better now then the one who faced howard :geek2:

froch is a very uptight fighter & dont let his shot's go till late on in contest's. froch has been hit harder before which may catch up with him very soon as he does get nailed & shows a great chin.
abraham's would need to start quick & close the space down, he may stand of froch so he plant's his feet & hold ring centre & become static.
froch is hard to beat once confident & relaxed down the stretch, you have to knock the stuffing out him early on if abrahams does this he'll win. if froch moves & doubles up on his jab & walks arthur onto them uppercut's he'll shine :TU: froch is the country's best & most exciting fighter hands down :!:

I seem to be in the minority that see this as a very winnable fight for Carl. For me he has more dimensions to his game and he has the toughness to ride out the tough spells. Carl on points for me.

Do you think so? He seemed to use his normal peek-a-boo style and then hit with bombs later on. It's not like he's changed his style.

Cracking fight - Carl was class, AA tried some dirty tricks, but I'm guessing that the ref wasn't paid off, or if he was, they didn't give him enough money :OhYes:

I wonder just how many other SM could have taken that punishment, AA is a warrior to stay in there and did try to win the 12th.

It's nice to finish a year of poor boxng, with a decent British victory.

I couldn't help but check to see what ol' numb nuts had to say after that god awful preview.

Well, it turns out he was right. AA was robbed, and obviously Froch should have been disqualified numerous times. And looked terrible. Warning: don't read if you want to avoid tearing out your own hair.

Scott Hemorrhoid is a joker. I thought it was only some forums that had 'WUM's' but that site is giving that imbecile a platform to talk nonsense.

Please do what other sensible forums and sites do and ban links to that site of drivel.

I can't work out if that site is meant to be serious, carrying stuff like that, cleary written by an out and out moron.

I don't like even giving a link to it, apart from the black comedy aspect, but this joker's "articles" get linked on the NewsNowboxing web page, which is meant to carry serious, and sane, boxing articles.

I noticed they are linked on showtime's Super Six feed - which is pretty scary!
