David Cowan outpointed Delroy Spencer 58-56 in a boring 6x2's
John Downie outscored Sid Razak 58-56 . Razak did well scoring regularly with quick left jabs but probably did not do enough .
Richard Barclay beat Jatinder Johal 59-55 . Johal fought bravely but his head was knocked back repeatedly by solid shots from the local lad .
Referee stopped Ryan McNicol after 49 seconds of the fifth against Paul McElhinney due to a bad eye cut . These last three contests were 6x2s
Eddie Doyle outpointed Matt Seawright 80-72 but did not impress . Jab non-existent and right handed lounges won him the points . 8x2's.
Ciaran Duffy won a hotly disputed 77-75 against Billy Smith . Smith had Duffy over in the 5th and clearly won the last . 8x2s
Kris Carslaw stopped Terry Carruthers in the 3rd for the British Masters light-middle title . Carruthers got clipped with a left and his legs went walkabout without instructions from the head ! After an 8 count , Carlsaw pinned him on the ropes and opened up until referee Loughlin stepped in .
I have not seen a better light-middle in this country - trust me , Carslaw will win the British title . He's unorthodox , very fit and strong , punches hard with both hands ,but his main asset is quick reflexes .

The best argument you could have made for Duffy was that he won 76-75. After dropping Duffy in the 5th, and winning the 6th, Smith just let just let him back in during round 7 and that may have made the difference. I scored it a draw, and the crowd were definitely surprised by the decision. Credit to Ciaran though, the lad broke both his hands in the fight.

Just a few points. Carslaw did look very very good, switching between orthodox and southpaw and landing some very good shots to the body. He was content to pick his shots and not waste much and during round 2 he retaliated to a combination from Carruthers with a rather flashy flurry which showed off his hand speed and was finished emphatically with a hard right to the body.

John Downie won his fight quite convincly but after taking a few jabs from Razak he seemed content to keep eating them as it was allowing him the opening to land his own shots. It worked against Razak but as he moves on he'll need to think about a tighter guard and a LOT more head movement.

Evangelou had to work hard for his win. He won the first 2 rounds but seemed to slow down a lot and allow Malek to come onto him in the 3rd and 4th. He was also marked up around the left eye/temple after the 3rd. The bodyshots Evangelou landed in the first two rounds were crunching and would of felled someone who was in lesser shape, but Malek was able to take them and keep coming. With both tired in the 5th and 6th the cleaner work from Evangelou just edged him the rounds.

I know Kris well and have seen him train many times he has the talent and desire to go far his hand speed is amazing! He is very down to earth and deserves anything he gets in the game! Ciaran is a very tough cookie dnt underestimiate him
