Joe Walcott. For a fella who turned pro at sixteen, he sure took his time coming to the party!

In the lower weights, I think of Kostya Tszyu &, among current men, Juan Manuel Marquez took a lot of time to develope into his own.

Nate Campbell, Ron Lyle &, to a lesser extent, Larry Holmes, could all be seen as late-bloomers, but all got a late start in the game, so it's more understandable.

Started off a total embarrassment, culminating in 2 of the worst world title challenges I've ever seen, against DeLeon & Warring (at least before Audley Harrison's 'challenge' to David Haye ), but then he matured into a really decent cruiserweight who was very hard to beat.

Initally I was going to say Jersey Joe Walcott, but maybe that is the obvious choice.

Someone beat me to the punch her ehtough, i was going to say Steve Collins as well.

And Bernard Hopkins has doen exceptionally well since turning 40.

And maybe we could throw George Foreman and Vitali Klitchsko in there too.

How about Dick Tiger? He was about 30 and had been fighting professionally for about 7 years before he hit his peak.
Another would be Joe Brown. He was 30 and had been fighting as a pro for more than 10 years before he won the lightweight title.
