Mundine/Wood

What weight is this going to be fought at and does Wood have a remote chance of pulling this off? Any comments regarding the fight would be appreciated. I haven't seen Wood but appears to be a gulf in class and that Mundine should cruise to a relatively easy dec. :TU:

Middleweight

Should be a fairly comfortable points win for Mundine. May be late retirement.

I caught some youtube footage of Woods fight v Oganov...wow, what a stiff. He telegraphs everything. He's strong and determined but a dirty ass fighter. That was more of a wrestling match. He likes to use his noggin as well. I know Choc isn't particularly liked but hopefully the ref doesn't allow Woods to get away with that nonsense. If Choc hasn't completely lost it, this should be a rather easy fight for him me thinks.

wouldn't surprise me if cuts stop it early, very early

The tournament Wood won to fight Mundine was at super middleweight. Wood should insist on a 12 stone limit.

Won't be much of a spectacle, considering they are both close friends from the rugby days, it will be just another touchy feely pay day :shame:

insist?

i'm sure wood signed a contract ages ago that would probably given him zero chance of bargaining anything.

there would be fine-print for the fine-print, lol.

this is the cabbie basher remember.

according to bookmakers, wood has a better chance of beating choc than flores had of beating green.... bj was paying around $6, wood is paying $5.50

I wouldn't be surpised if in stunning WWE fashion Woods scores a KO of Mundine which is later labelled a lucky punch by the Mundine camp.

This wouold be the ideal outcome as Mundine could set up a decent money rematch with woods and not have to go overseas. He could say crap like "this boy got lucky so know I have tke care of business at home before I conquer the world". It would also make Woods a household name and I believe Box promotions have an interest in his future fights so that would also be good for Choc too. Mundine then wins the rematch on points, restores his "image", and doesn't have to go on and actuaaly fight a top 10 guy but still "get's paid".

it should be a very ugly fight.

i must say that garth would have been big odds to win the contender before a fight had taken place. i don't think anyone thought he could have possibly won it tbh.

so he has at least been getting better and better depsite his limitations.

Mundine played for St George and Brisbane. Wood played for Balmain and South Sydney. Brisbane is unpopular with Sydney teams and Souths and Balmain (niow part of Wests Tigers) have always been mortal enemies of St George. There will be no love lost.

garth has nothing to lose.

it would be a major embarrassment for anthony if he lost. garth must be one of the least experienced fighters mundine has ever fought wouldn't he?

$50 for mundine circus event.

$40 for katsidis vs living legend marquez for 2 proper world titles.

the mundine circus isn't even worth 26 cents in comparison.

Garth will be cut up early and it will be stopped in Mundine's favour.

Boxa's promotions aren't worth two bob and unless Mundine has a heart transplant and goes overseas to fight someone further up the totem pole, will one consider spending a razoo just to see Mundine finally having a go!

Does anyone have any news form the weigh in for this fight?

Also anyone got any idea why the fight is over 10 rounds and not 12? I am imagining it would have been Mundine's people who decided on this.

I can only see this as an easy victory for Mundine, Wood will be just so easy for Mundine to hit, his rough house tactics won't bother Mundine who wont get drawn into any of that. The obvious question is just whether Wood can last the distance, over 10 rounds I think he may be able to do it.

Gday Belta,

I am assuming the fight must be a title fight for it to be sanctioned over 12 rounds :??

Someone will know :geek:

It should have been sanctioned for 4 round only.......with head guards :DD

Mauler,

The fight is over 10 rounds according to the boxrec schedule. There is also no mention of it being for any title whatsoever. I suppose the fight sells itself (to the Aussie audience anyway) and thus there is no need for it to be for any title.

Sorry Belta, what i meant was i didn't think you could fight a 12round fight unless it was for a title and this fight is not for a title hence this bum fight  has to be for 10 rounds :TU:

Woods will cut up and the fight will be a fizzer IMO :shame:
